I'm too quick to draw a conclusion 100+ posts into this thread?

It's pretty clear from the replies that some people don't care about their "junk" or their knees.

As for myself, I always wear a hard cup and pants with padded knees.

Just because people don't care about their knee's, doesn't mean they're right.

Wearing knee pads and "junk" protection means your knee's and "junk" will be in better shape 10 years from now.

Except for a good mask, paintball specific clothing is not necessary. The responses to this thread indicate that people play in all sorts of outfits... beaters, shorts, speedos.

Ok, I don't know about that last one, but my point is: it's a good idea to wear protective gear, but other than a mask, what you wear is up to you.

Side note: this one time, the manager of my local field asked me if I was wearing a cup, and I replied "yep, I wear one every time." He was really upset with me because he was trying to reassure some kids with rentals that they did not need a cup to play paintball. He was pissed at his poor timing asking me about this topic and then started grilling me about when I have ever been shot in that area. Honestly, I don't know that I have, but I want to be ready for that day.

I have been shot in the junk once in nearly 20 years. I will not be wearing a cup any time soon because it restricts mobility and the jewels.

According to the scientific method, no you can't. This sampling is extremely biased and is not random, to say the least. This is also an opinion based thread and the wisdom of each one is difficult to measure. If you were to count this thread as a study, it would only be considered a qualitative one. There are no hard numbers, there is no control group, the responders of this thread only represent an extremely small portion of the paintball community so internal and external validity cannot be proven, etc... . Basically it would take me all afternoon to point out all of the confounders and the biases of this thread. So basically, like I said in the first sentence, no you can't. Further study is needed.

We don't need a study for personal preference.

Then all you have is a list of opinions, and guess what, everybody has one
