The terrain itself makes a difference ... if it's mostly dirt ground, it's much different from if there is a lot of roots, rocks, etc. Then the specific type of cleat or boot makes a difference, the material of the cleats/soles ... That said, a good pair of hiking boots with a relatively soft sole and a decent rough-terrain lug pattern should work well for just about all woodsball. Try to get as light as possible and at least mid-high.

Just like wearing runners but with really good grip. A buddy of mine swears by his football cleats. He loves 'em. I'd suggest you try a few different types of footwear and use what's comfy.

| Endearingly quirky | I typically wear mid-length football cleats. However at last Sac pump day, I wore a different pair that were brand new. Halfway thru the day I was getting blisters so I took em off and put on my sandals. Well I can't run in them, so I played barefoot. If you saw my feet (I'm constantly barefoot so have 'Frodo feet'), you'd understand how I can do that.

Cleats generally provide the best traction and are lighter for faster running. Tennis shoes... I wouldn't even consider them. Little traction, poor support, no water resistance... Pick what fits you and the field the best. |
