Question What shoes should I wear when playing?

I mainly play woodsball and I usually wear boots... However, I was wondering whether cleats would be helpful. I have a feeling I know the answer but I thought I'd check.

Cleats
Boots
or Tennis Shoes

I usually wear these cheap Israeli combat boot knock offs that I get from the surplus store. Current pair has lasted close to 2 years now. Leather tops with nylon body. Nice and light weight yet sturdy. Plus they have nice deep "lugs" on the bottom that are nearly cleats. Best part however is that they are side zippered for easy on and off. I think I payed like 35$ for my pair.

I've worn cleats before, but they seem to hurt after a while. I usually wear a pair of Timberland Tennis shoes with velcro straps. They're lightweight and very comfy with good traction.

I wear dutch issue combat boots. They lack traction for a quick sprint, but they are waterproof if you maintain them right. That's a big plus if you play in a field that has high groundwater levels. Also these boots prevent straining a ankle when you misstep, what is quite common on uneven terrain. I've seen people making the mistake of playing woods with sneakers, and had to quit because of injuring their ankles. For speedball i stick to soccer cleats, but i hardly play that game anymore.

I stick to boots, but i must admit i'm quite used to them... I wear those too casually.

What ever you want it is your feet.

I have been wearing cleats for over 22+ years only once did I twist my ankle i still played the day out. I did play once in Tevas on a rainy summer day for a SC day.

Boots are good if you get a good waterproof pair but if it's muddy the treads get full of mud and you may as well be wearing oiled saran wrap on your feet. I've always worn mid-height football cleats and had good success. They are totally worn out(no pleather on the toes anymore) so I just had the local store order me a pair of mid-height JT cleats. For the same price as football cleats I figured I'd try some paintball shoes. The only thing I don't like about football cleats is that they have skinny, soft toes and if you stub a toe, bang a toe into a rock when crawling or even get shot in the toe it can be kind of painful. The JT cleats have a nice toebox that seems like it'll be good for that kind of stuff.

I used to wear football cleats. I now wear JT's paintball cleats. Super comfortable, great support, excellent traction and so far have been durable.

Whatever is most comfortable on your feet.

I prefer boots, as I like the extra ankle support and normally wear boots during work and every day life so I am more accustomed to them.
