My daughters first day of paintball

So... my daughter turned 15 at the beginning of the month. She's been showing interest in paintball for a few months now, and I figured that Sacramento Pump Day would be a great introduction to the sport... so I promised to take her this time around.

It was a great day for an introduction as the game was announced last minute and the turnout was low, but totally playable (6 on 6 most of the day)

She got to try out lots of great pump gear (she didn't even want to try semi as she was a natural at pump)

She settled on Hellion360's awesome purple drop out Phantom and showed some serious skills for a first timer. Even getting hit didn't phase her. at one point, another player bunkered Craig, and she popped out of her bunker and gogged him, while also taking one in the thigh. From that moment on, she was hooked.

Now she says I can't go play without her.... she's addicted to the sport and prefers pump play after watching a few rounds of semis.

Sweet.

Now if anyone has a spare Phantom she can have.... she didn't like shooting my Sheridans.

I don't understand how hitting someone with one of 300 balls, fired at 30BPS is skill.... yet a single ball to the face from a PGP is a "lucky" shot....

Hehe... the Phantom request was kind of a joke.... If she proves to really get into the sport, I'll probably set her up with this Trilogy I'm building. Or get her a basic model used Phantom for Christmas. First things first though... I'll get her a quality mask that fits her face....

That's awesome you're girl had a good time. Doesn't take much to get hooked huh? As far as a small mask try a save phace. They are the smallest masks out, I think. Save Phace | WORLDS Sickest Tactical Mask and ONLY Sports Utility Mask I have a very small head and use a JT proflex with the soft ears. It's the only mask I'm able to get tight enough around my head. The soft ears are almost at the back of my head... lol.

Not really. In fact, my daughter said that next time she's not bringing a friend so that she can get in more games.... She felt somewhat obligated to keep her friend entertained while we played, and her friend only wanted to go one on one with Taylor....

Next month she'll join us solo and probably be in every single game no matter how massive. She really did have a good time.

That's too bad. She probably got creeped out by Tim also. Hell, he creeps ME out.

Sounds great! I took my daughter for her first time out this weekend as well (she's 11), along with a friend and his 10 year old son. They both moved great, she was carrying a pre2k pump converted autococker, and he was carrying a rental. They just worked great together.

Her first game she ended up one on one with a guy that was trying to be a bit careful (we told them it was the kids first time out). Every shot he took bounced, I was dying because she was just out in the open going toe to toe with this guy. his shots bounced, her shots missed.

Eventually she got gogged and came away from it all smiles.

Later during the day though, a piece of a bunker came off when it was hit with a paintball and got up under her mask. It completely freaked her out, and that was pretty much the end of her day.

There is a chance that she will decide to play again, as I've heard her tell some stories from the day. So I'll hold onto the gear I bought for her and cross my fingers.

**We were going to skip out on the planned day, due to the tornado in Windsor. My in-Law's house was in the 'restricted area' and suffered some damage. But my wife thought my daughter needed to go ahead and play and get her mind off of everything. At least it looked like she was having a good time until something hit her under her mask.

I started taking my son out last year. It was hard finding a marker that he could easily use. I ended up slapping together a vert feed spyder, and running a remote line to it. After about a year of playing he straight up stole a mini black magic from me because "Dad it's got FLAMES on it!!".
It used to be that he would shadow me on the field, trying to stick close because he thought I was a "safe" player. Now that he knows better I don't see a hair of him after the break. I find it very entertaining to see him talking poop between games and interacting with other players.
