All in all, the new size is right where it should be.

But like I said, i can custom make what the person needs. I just will not offer it as a standard service.
I like the bags I got from Sam specifically because they are bigger and I don't fumble with them while trying to leave the field. Of the bags I borrowed from people (while I still only had plugs) none fit well, especialy on my stubby Typhoon or pump markers. I also ordered the "Too Hot" pattern which is very visible and great for indicating I want to get the heck off the field, but I see he ran out of that. All said, his are the most functional solution I've personally experienced. I'm glad I found a product that I like because I was actually quite irritated when I found my barrel blugs were no longer adequate at some fields.

Because you can't allow one group of players to bend some rule while enforcing it for others. One thing I remember from my reffing days was the general "but you let him do it" mentality, esp. among newbies & the TWiB set. It's all about parity...one you let one person slide, they'll all want to slide.

Also, on the topic at hand, here's my "regular" barrel blocking device:

It's a black condom made of nylon webbing (think it's a Pegleg, but don't quote me on that) sewn into a hand puppet of Hamm from Toy Story. When I'm walking off the field after being eliminated and keep getting hit (which is not uncommon, unfortunately), I just let the shooter know that they're making the pig angry...and they won't like him when he's angry.

Thank you. I am glad you like the wraps. Yes, I am still keeping my eye out for more Too Hot fabric. But getting it is quite the task.

in addition to the barrel plug safety concern, its not just electros, sometimes the o-rings used to hold em in tight fitting come off or are removed and they are more dangerous. I've seen mech blowbacks launch their plugs in between games, of course theirs no way to know if it was in all the way, or if the o-rings were all there, but who cares, launching plugs at people could be dangerous, socks/condoms are just more reliable and safe.

While I agree, I also dissagree. If it was simply put into writing that all markers have to use bags, with the exception of pumps (wherinwhich a plug is used) There should'nt be any problem then. Its just like the rule that the ref has the final call, reguardless of what may or may not have happened. If people are made aware of this, no problems, if they arent, oh boy, have fun.

But you always get the soccer moms, "Why does this guy get special treatment over my son/daughter? My son/daughter's paintball gun is just as good as hers/his, but hers/his is easier to block the barrel of? My son/daughter doesn't like struggling with the barrel bag, and your policies are not fair"

There's always the soccer moms.

This would be 100% true if anyone ever actually read things like liability waivers, sign-up sheets, signs in the staging areas, chrono ranges, and the like. The reality is that they don't.

The reason I hate the plugs is because I would hate to see what a gritty o-ring could do when stuffed down an $80 dollar barrel. Or worse yet, a fixed barrel like a Palmers.

I prefer the bags to plugs. Bags are easier to take off and put on then most barrel plugs, and are less likely to get shot out. I like the customization of them compared to plugs as well, you can't really put pictures or words on a barrel plug.

Shartely's barrel bags are about the best out there. A lot of the big companies bags seem a bit skimpy to control the paint coming out of a electro beast at 20 bps.
