| Active Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: S. Windsor, CT | My sons first day of paintball Our local field was having a family and friends campout and Bar-B-Que over the 4th of July weekend. I thought it would be a great idea to bring my 12 year son along for his first game of paintball. We loaded up the van with tents and food and headed out to the field on Saturday. He brought a friend along. I let my son shoot my Pro-Lite and his friend shot my 98 custom. I of course used my Nelspot 007. Kind folks who know me gave us a case and and a half of good paint (when you get old and are a 25 year verteran of the field, people love you). We had plenty of CO2 bottles to last us the two days (and fills were free), so all in all it was a low cost weekend. I taught my son the basics of safety, cover and movement and he did rather well. It took him a few games but he learned how to pick his targets, elimate them and not waste paint in dpoing so. He also took getting shot without incident. Sure it stung a little sometimes he said, but no big deal. I think the only he got upset is when the safety assembly fell out the marker and the tank emptied as the sear kept tripping. Luckily someone had a Spyder for him to use. We ended up with a case of paint left over at the end of the second day. We would of had more but we spiilled a few hundred rounds on the ground. Next time he plays it will be stock class and he is looking forward to it!

| Newbie Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: San Francisco, CA | Yep. I wrote a similar post regarding my daughters first day of play. It was at Sac Pump Day, and she's taken a liking to Phantoms. I have a member here hanging on to one for her, which I will be making dropout, SC fed... she hated playing semi. Good to hear that there are other parents that encourage a great sport and do it right. They are the future of paintball, and it's a shame that there is only negative press surrounding teens and paintball. If you're ever in the SF bay area, drop me a line.. perhaps we can all go to a local field as a 4 man pump team against the paint hoses...

| Rec Poster Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Chile, Sth America | My 5 yr old daughter asked me last week when she can go with me to play... She definitely enjoys helping me tinker/clean/mod. "Hand me the hopper please" "Daddy what's a hopper??" "That black thing to put the paintballs in" "Can we put some in, please, please, please????" (Spend next 5 minutes watching a paintball roll out of a gravity hopper, again and again and again, hoping it won't bust over the livingroom carpet "Ok, help me with the paper towel... And don't wipe your little paws on your new dress or mums going to scrag me" etc. I need to get her to the age she won't freak out on a welt though Paintball bonding in the workshop for now... |
