I'd snag a nice Emag with a decent HPA and loader... I've got a few, but if I didn't that's what I'd grab.

You've all helped a lot thank you. Now I think I should explain what I am looking for in greater detail. I have nothing at this time so I need to buy the marker, barrel, hopper, mask and all other peripherals with this money. Another $50 bucks no big deal, but I don't want to spend too much now as I may want to upgrade in a year if this brings greater enjoyment to the game. I love to play, but I am always frustrated by the equipment failures.

I believe my original post intimated I wanted to buy a marker for $500, but the case is I need everything.

I am looking for;

Speed
Accuracy
Reliability
Distance

Probably all the same things everyone else is looking for.

Like stated above, I would go with the invert mini. You would probably need to get a better barrel if you want good accuracy, though. One thing I would consider is buying a used gun because you can find some really good prices. I regret all the new guns I bought.

Oh, and all paintball guns shoot the same distance unless you get a Tippmann 98/A5 with a flatline.

Since I am a newbie I must ask, why do you leave speed off the list?

Many of the members here are "old school" and prefer pumps and mechanical semis to uber-fast electro guns.

I agree. I think it's a great starter electro marker since the maintenance is very minimal, with less to take apart, clean, lube, or replace.

Wow. Well since no one else has said it yet. A stock AKA Viking puts everything on your list in the dirt. Doesnt need upgrades, uses a cartridge base system, one of the best regs/LPR's you can get, exceptional efficiancy.

You can pick one up like new for around $400-$500.
