I was implying that after you become a gun whore then you can tell your wife/gf that you need to keep that particular marker because its a marker that is used for a series of tournaments. The rest of the markers you have to come up with your own excuse...my favorite is that I need another pump so I can save money by shooting less paint

Also I was saying dont support ebay in the context of 'you should buy locallly first if possible'

I strongly suggest finding a solid package deal, preferably used. It is worth mentioning that, while not bad guns, spyders, ions, and most tippmanns will *not* have a decent resale value. Not a big deal if you like it and just keep using it, but if you turn around in a few months and want to upgrade, they will effectively be worth almost zero on trades.

Some of the markers I took note of when looking for my first mid-level gun:
invert mini (ended up buying)
dangerous power F8 or G3
proto SLG
PMR (proto matrix rail)

Other things you will definitely want:
decent hopper (you can find a revy around here or PBN for $25-20)
HPA (decent steel tank with reg = $40-50, fiber wrapped tank = $120+)
decent mask (find one around here or PBN for $20-40)

If you want simplicity get a used midranged electro like the Proto Matrix Rail ($200), ICD Promaster($150),Eclipse Etek ($350) many others I probably forgot. Quality products with lots availiable and upgrades. Good prices used. You can get a 68/4500psi used tank for ($120 used). Good set of googles $30 (thermal). $15 used pack for paint pods.

I think I'f try and get a used WR Tac-1. I've been itching to get a marker I can sight over the top of.
