| Seasoned Member Join Date: Jul 2008 | Contemplating buying an electro... I have been going back and forth between buying more pumps or trying some decent electros... I've been wanting something with the easiest Maintenance, and reliable operation, good effeciency, durable, and kind of idiot proof I have recently looked at something like the dm4-6 series, heard ego's were idiot proof. Or something like a viking which have all of the above. Any other markers i should look into? something around $500 or lower is my budget. Thanks, Richard. |

If you crave for a semi get a nice pnuemag (or just a classic) automag or autococker, then change them to your likings. At least get a marker with character. Electros seem clinical in the sense that when you pull the trigger it makes a puff and a paintball comes flying out. No character, no fullauto of an AT series machine no lovely wood of a Hurc. Just clinical feeling and sometimes crappy quality. At the end of the day, I'd rather get a pump above all semis (apart form a mag/autococker). Have you tried something brass, a sterling or nelspot lately? Just come suggestions but they are many more choices. But if you must know I think the DP G3 is a fine marker, not too expensive not too cheap and not too common. Although the Eclipse Geo and just been announced (and subsequently released, I think), not sure about the price though. At the end of the day its all about your preference. Good luck, Arpie

Find a nice Viking/Excal or an Emag. Each one has character like Arpie said. Mini, G3, PMR are decent mid range markers. Depends on what feel you like. Had a Mini and it was too small for me. Try to get to a pbshop and handle a few markers. See what you like. Although you may find a nice 05/06 EGO in your range. You may be able to find one with a few ups on it.

Idiot proof the the point where all you need for a good days play are a couple of drops of oil and the mecahnical know-how to operate and on/off switch. I've seen tons of them for sale lately too, mostly in your price range. |

| 1-866-MEAT-4-YU Join Date: May 2007 Location: Binghamton NY | You should be able to get a basic Viking/Excal for under $500, and that pretty much meets all of your stated needs. A basic Emag is iffy, unless you get a deal or it's beat up, they're usually a bit more. Older Timmies, Bushmasters, Shockers, etc can all be had for well under that, as can pretty much anything "mid-level" (PMRs, Evil guns, nice e-cockers, etc etc) used that's not an 08 or maybe 07. The Proto-SLG UL version that's out or out soon might be a good option. Alternately, you could pick up something like one of the newer e-spyders (Electra 08 is cheap and by all reports very nice), and if you don't like it just slap a mechanical frame on it.
