I guess the biggest point is that even if you've got a crappy gun, a skilled player will quickly realize its limitations and adapt his/her game to use the crappy/lesser gun to its fullest.

I walked onto the field one day with a lot of new players. I had snagged a rental marker - after all I had not intended to play when I had gone - and stuffed a pod into the back pocket of my jeans. The teams were being picked and I was very near the bottom. The other player who new me there was snickering - you can take a guess at the outcome. Equipment seldom matters much - to a point. As others have noted equipment failure can cause a problem. Last edited by Lohman446; 07-02-2009 at 04:44 PM. |

All i care about as far as equipment is reliability. one time me and my friend were playing pump and i was using anAGS unibody nelson of some sort he had, and i broke about 10 balls trying to hit him at near point blank range, he was reloading at the time so he didn't shoot me back.Anyways, the most important things are your marker shoots paintballs, and doesn't break while you use it, I don't care about anything else. I am very picky however about making sure I have a mask on that doesn't fog....anyways, its about 99%, skill 1% equipment. |

Good gear def helps. Having a psp capable board is almost a necessity, having a light gun is a necessity, and having a comfortable gun is necessary. When I play woodsball every once in a while, I don't take advantage of my gun being able to shoot 16+ balls per second. If im in a gun fight with a dude with a pump, I usually play along, only shooting 1 or 2 balls at a time. Its def more fun than running at his bunker laying paint all around it not even giving someone a chance. But if some kid has their sl8r on full auto with their dye rotor shooting 25+ balls a second, you're sure as hell that I will unload right back on them. I don't like spending a lot of paintball gear. If you look at it, what can a Luxe do (besides talk) that an ion can't do. Same arguement goes for cars. Why do people get Bentlys when you can get a Chrysler 300. Its somewhat of a status symbol. On a side note, if someone with a pump ever comes up to me after a game and says "guess how much my gun cost that I shot you with", i will hunt them down and bunker them in a soft spot the next game, even if I take 9-10 shots after doing so. Thats just plain arrogance saying that to someone.

Gear doesn't make the player plain and simple. My buds still talk about the ridiculous shots I made with that Talon | |
