I needed a new ball detent for it and took it into a proshop. The guy behind the desk doubted they would have any parts "for that old thing." It's probably not even 10 years old!

PGP all the way. Inexpensive, reliable, easy to find parts (here on mcb). Well-known. PGP's are great. I think every gun whore on mcb has probably owned at least two of them. I've had 4 myself (so far ) More info here: www.pgpog.org

Then again, if you want to go for brand new and/or possibly custom built to your specifications, I would go for a Phantom. Check here out for good info: www.bunkerboyz.com/phog

Hope I could help;

My vote, the phantom.
It has the versatility across the board. Good quality and hold value.
They can be found all over the place. Buy the biggest package you can afford at the time. Unless you can find the "extra" parts and accessories at giveaway prices, it's cheaper to but the "package"

BUT....
As with all the gun whores here (we know who we are)
buy one of each to try and then hang them on the wall or resell them.

ESPECIALLY if you hang around here for a little bit!

(be sure when surfing anywhere near mcb to keep your wallet locked up in a far away place!)

I'm gonna throw out a new idea......get a Tigershark. People can badmouth them as much as they want, but they're workhorses that do a good joob....I paid $25 shipped for mine & it's gone through 4 or 5 cases with no problems. They're fairly quiet, light, & with a very slight mod you can fit Spyder barrels to them. Nothing scares a ref quite like an olive drab Tigershark with a Freak kit on it.....

SCP is also a good place to look for pump markers. Here's a Phantom for $150:

I vote Phantom as well. Very versatile gun and several choices of barrels, including having the stock barrel bored out for Freak inserts.

Where's the "ALL" option? ...

You certainly struck a nerve with this topic. 3 pages in one day has got to be pretty close to a new record!

Of the Nelsons that mere mortals can afford a basic Phantom has got to be a great choice. However I've got a WGP Ranger as well as a PMI Tagmaster and they are both right on the heels of the Phantom or just as good as far as being a great way to chuck paint around. And while they lack some of the pizzaz, especially compared to the fancy finishes on the Phantoms, they can be had for about 1/2 the price in excellent shape and less if scuffed up.

Through some odd circumstances I ended up with two SL68's. I played my first pump only day with a borrowed SL68II and they will forever have a spot in my heart and in my arsenal. They look and sound crude but even with the stock barrel they are amazingly accurate. And I love the feel of playing with what feels like some sawed off shotgun. The only issue is the barrel rollouts with the new paint. I'm looking at a way to install a light wire whisker detent into the barrel. That'll cure that problem.

And just to make sure that I can't be called prejudiced I've been working on a cocker conversion and just a few days back tripped onto a big sale and got a WGP Sniper II for cheap. As if that's not enough one of my projects is to convert a Piranha R6 into a pump gun as well.

And just in case all these let me down I'm looking to find a steal of a deal on a PGP or similar.
