Buying on MCB (UPDATE) Please help

Before I buy something in MCB, how can I be sure that somebody will not scam me if I pay via paypal before shipping?

Update(10/10/09): On Tuesday night of this week, I made my first purchase on MCB, thanks to your help. I contacted him via phone and worked out a deal. I bought IlliniInFront's Pro-Edition Karni for what I thought was a great deal. The problem is, that after sending payment, he promised to post it Wednsday, Thursday at the latest. When I got home from school on Thursday, roughly around 3:30, San-Francisco time, I PM'ed him to ask if he shipped it. He replied no, and that something had come up and that he would ship it tomorrow (Friday) morning. I didn't think anything of it, and told him not to worry about it, BUT, today, Saturday, I asked him if he had shipped it, and have not had a reply yet, which worries me. It has been about 4 days, and it has not yet been shipped, when he promised it would be shipped at most two days ago. What should I do? If this is a scam, I have just lost $335 of my hard earned money, which is a lot to me since I am only fifteen, and I do not get allowance.

I would appreciate any insight...

Check their feedback, discuss your concerns with them. Exchange all of your info including phone numbers, and give them a call first. I am sure most members will be more than happy to walk you through your first deal to make you feel comfortable. If all else fails paypal does offer some security just make sure the payment is taken from a credit card. Then you will also have the added security the credit card company provides.

Ask the seller for a link to there feedback thread. Most have them in their signature like i do.

Usually the way to go is to do a search for their name, and hope you find their thread. You could also go the easy way and ask them for their link.

Exchange all address information and phone number. That's always a must so that if something goes wrong you can alert the police immediately

You should be pretty set on here too. I only know of 1 active scammer and his feedback will warn you before hand

If you have all their contact info, then if something does go wrong, you can notify the authorities and gove them the contact info

MCB is a great place to buy, I always love to just look through the BST section for cool things, and in the off chance I can afford something, I always like buying from here
