Pumps against semi's

I have been playing for three years and pump for only a few months. I love pump play and was wondering if any of you guys play with a pump against semis??? And how do you do against them?

I don't play alota pump, but as a mechanical semi player I've played alot of mixed games. A good pumper is worth his weight in gold on the field. When you have a guy like Lee who can auto-trigger his sterling faster than most folks can shoot a stock 98, the "handicap" really doesn't mean alot unless you play against bps machines.

After a few times out, the disadvantage isn't noticable; you become more comfortable with your marker, and it doesn't matter who's shooting at you, or how fast.

I have played pump vs semi for years. It can be a rush if you have a good attitude about it. You just have to expect to get hosed (not as in overshot though it happens) more often than not! There is a satisfaction in being able to get that one shot when you are outgunned because you were paying attention to the field/other players. But there is something to be said for being able to put out the paint when needed. I also play semi in a reserved most of the time, one or two shots then pause to see if the shots broke!

i'm the only one to play with a Phantom at my field, but i play just as well... i personally think i play better with a pump because i don't just shoot for the sake of emptying my hopper. and pumps are much lighter than any super electro wonder gun and related kit so i run better and play tighter

Spray and pray as compare to skill and strategy.
The times that I have played semi's and pumps, pumps ruled.
Most of the time, the semis get over confident and open themselves up.

I can't believe that guy shot me with a pump....so much for your 2000.00 angel huh..I see you guys have met Lee (true statements)

I got accused of shooting full auto with a non-autotrigger pump once . . . that was hilarious, the refs laughed long and hard at those kids. Familiarity with your equipment is an awesome thing

I've also been accused of things like overshooting. It's usually when I double feed and shoot two balls in one shot - something most semis can't do.

Anyways. I have never played anything but pump, so semis are just other players to me. I actually had a tougher time at TNT pump day because I knew most of the people there were dead nuts accurate and knew their guns like I did.

I've played speedball on Airball fields for years including College X-ball and a lot of 5-man against some incredible D2 teams. You could be the best shot in the world, but a pumper snapping against an electric is going to lose 9 out of 10 unless that electric player has really bad fundamentals. Modern paintball is about owning lanes with constant streams of paint. There is hardly room for mechanicals anymore, let alone pumps, and speedball is more strategic than it is given credit. You can't just spray and pray and make it anymore, especially when everyone is spraying and praying. Not to mention, it is easier to shoot opposite handed with an electric. Almost anyone can do it now.

I can see it happening at a local with a lot of mechanical markers though.

NOW, on the other hand, I will give a talented pump player the upper-hand in any scenario situation. In this case, most people just live behind their guns. I have played the Michigan Monster Game the last two seasons with a pump and had much better results, and a lot more fun. I never used to hit anyone with my electric in previous years...just cut down a lot of bushes.

This is just IMO and with all due respect. I love both worlds but am being honest based off of experience. Today's game is very different.

I play pump vs semi just about every weekend. I go out and play for fun, doesn't matter the gun. Half the time I'm laughing to hard to care what happens, win or lose. When there are enough pumps to do a pump only team vs a semi only team, 9 times out of 10 the pumps win. I've been playing pump only for about 1 1/2 years now. The Blazer is here and I'm itching to use it though...
