I don't want to comment too liberally since I'm completely new to this, but it seemed like 3 teams of 5 with one rotating constantly is pretty time efficient. It gives you a chance to refill on air and balls while people can still play without stopping every two games for everyone to fill up.
Perhaps a good idea would be to keep the rotation consistent, you sit out a round for every two no matter whether you win or lose, and we keep a tally of the most wins for the night. That way everyone gets the same amount of field time.
But then again, halfway through there seemed to be people who needed more than a round for a break so the teams got a bit mixed up anyway, just to get 10 people on the field.
It seemed like a few times we had to to 4 on 4 since people needed longer breaks at the end so having 15 people to draw from didn't seem so bad.

Those are just my limited impressions, however.

everyone throws in 5 extra bucks split teams up at random. the team with the most wins at the end of the night gets all the cash to split up between themselves. (needs to be an even number of guys though)

but I dont really care if this turns into some kind of tournament type thing its plenty fun the way it is right now though.

I agree. I had a great time the way it was, I don't need anything different to keep going.

Hrmm...how about something in between...

You collect 5 from each person and pool it all together and buy something with it? I'd trust good old freedom with my money anyday. However, the issue comes up of how to split the item among the team members...

Or you could make some pair vs pair deathmatch and the last two friends become enemies and must face each other? Random numbers drawn from hats will create the pairs.

Problem with that is it'd take the whole night.

I would rather play for a 6 pack of beer and a bag of chips, or even just a gatorade and a twix bar than a bunch of barrel socks. And I think that money is a bad thing as well.
I think the only thing that would make it more exciting for me would be the lights off with glowsticks, and maybe a smoke machine, that I was hearing about. I'd throw in an extra $5 for that fund for sure..

How about this idea? Everyone pools together $5 each and we buy a container of gasonline and play a-la Road Warrior Style.

We play "for the juice!"
