hey all - I just discovered this AirTanksForSale scba tanks. 97 cu ft - carbon fiber - 12 lbs. we play a bit of outlaw and scuba tanks work ok.. but kind of heavy and not much usable gas. I'm thinking of cascading 3200psi scuba to 3200psi scuba to 4500psi scba. thoughts pls.

IMHO, cascading in the field for "outlaw ball" is a PITA. I prefer to bring along several SCBA with bleed off valves. I realize that you will get lower PSI for each tank fill. However, if unless you have less than 10 players, there will not be a bunch of shooting.

At that price you could get a few aluminum 80 cubic feet tanks. If you want to spend that much, I would instead suggest a 4500psi tank and a 4500 psi Shoebox. Fill the tanks to 3k if that's what your players are using, but you will get more fills before dipping into the 2k psi range. If you (as in your group) are filling a 3k tank off of a 4.5k scuba you (as in YOU) need to be the one doing the filling so people don't overfill. I know 3k tanks are hydro'd at 4.5k, but they should only be filled to their rating at the field. |

I'm just thinking how sweet it would be to top off to 4Kish. and I keep thinking about a shoebox... yuummmm. If my math is right the local scuba shop charges by the cu ft and will go to 4500psi @ $0.0875 / cuft.. that should translate to $9 to fill a 97 cu ft scba tank to 4500 psi.

Shoebox compressor and some +4500psig rated bulk tanks would be great especially if the local scuba shop can charge up to 5K like we were discussing over Mexican That would give us a lot of flexibility especially if more peeps become attracted to playing.
