Like it says in the sticky thread at the top of this forum...

Please don't post threads looking for games.
Please use the appropriate local forums when you guys are looking for any type of game. We don't want to have 2 separate sets of local forums.
Thanks for understanding.

Perhaps it wasn't worded correctly, but this is a group of guys with an outlaw field that are looking for more players to hopefully come join the fun. It is NOT a group looking for a field at which to play. As a matter of fact they have 2 or 3 venues in Passaic County at which they can host games.

On a lighter note, Manny & I are 90% in, Mario claims he's in & bringing a friend. Just waiting to hear back from Eddie, Isaac & his boy. I'll know more once we get a bit closer to the 7th...

I would think I'm using this forum correctly because this isn't a for-profit field. Totally free and meant for recreation players! I would like to put this in regional, but saw that the majority of those posts are for legit fields. Maybe a regional outlaw section would be possible. Any chance I may also suggest a contact list or something like a game finder like the one found on another big name website or forum I probably shouldn't mention?

Well, the thread is titled "4/7/13 Free Woodsball" which seems like a clear indication that this is a post promoting the date of a specific game.

The fact that the games aren't being run for profit isn't the issue. This forum was originally set up to discuss outlaw field issues and ideas, not to promote individual games. When game organizers started promoting games here it became very confusing for players who were looking for local games to have to search through two different forums to find games where they lived.

To date, we haven't had any issues with players promoting outlaw games in the regional section. The Splattttland games in the Northeast section are outlaw and have been promoted for years next to threads for games at legit fields.

In order to eliminate confusion, and make it easier for players to find local games (either legit or renegade), the site admin and forum moderators have asked that members only promote games in the regional section. This includes threads looking to recruit new players for your field. Photos of your renegade field, and/or questions about operating a renegade field are always welcome here. Thanks for understanding.

Personally, I don't see any difference in this post and the one by red army promoting his outlaw field. Straight for the first page of his post:

WE ARE LOOKING FOR PUMP PLAYERS TO JOIN US!
If you are serious about coming to the field, please message me, RED ARMY, and we can schedule a date. We play from 11am-5pm, January 1st - September 1st. Parking is limited so please carpool if you can!

I think this is where the confusion lies -- nothing was ever said about his post being illegal or posted in the same section, so how is one to know that promoting a specific game date is not allowed? If the regional section is the correct place for posts such as these, that's fine. I'm just trying to understand, and point out the difficulty in understanding what is allowed & what isn't.

"Please don't post threads looking for games.

This infers that you're not supposed to look for a game here, not that it's wrong to post an actual game site and date. As I said, it's unclear what the exact parameters of the Outlaw section are...

The outlaw section is relatively new, and started off discussing the legalities of outlaw play. Players then started discussing their own fields, which was soon followed by players promoting games. As soon as that happened, the confusion started, and that's why the mods posted the rules in the sticky thread. The post by Red Army (and any others that are promoting games) should have be posted in the regional games section - even if no one mentioned it in their threads.

I understand it can be confusing having an outlaw section that only deals with the specifics of this type of game, but not list game dates. But I'm sure you can understand how much more difficult it will be trying to find a local game if we add another Local Games section just for outlaw in addition to the one we have already. For players who just want to see what games are going on in their area, it's tough enough already having to weed through the Local Games section, the Scenarios and Big Games section and Tournaments section.

I'll ask the mods re-word the rules of the sticky thread to clear up any further confusion.

On a side note that is somewhat related..... If we were to ask the mods for anything then how about sending polite reminders for people in those regional fields to follow the guides on how to post? Nothing like sifting through 20 different threads just to find out what state they are in...we see this in the scenario and big game section too....nice title...has the date...but you have to open the thread, and click the link to go the home page of the field hosting the tournament look for the "contact us" link to get the address only to find out that you live in Florida and the scenario is in Washington State....</end waste of time>
