Brian "MOATI" Russel could use some help....

http://robertrussell.teambadkarma.com/
Brian Russell, formerly of SpecOps, needs your help - PbNation

Quote:
Robert Andrew Russell was born two months premature on November 9, 2009, weighing in at just 2 lbs 12 ounces. He is the son of Brian and Kelly Russell. Most paintballers around the world know Brian as "MOATI." He has been in the paintball industry for years—first with Cops911 and then Special Ops Paintball.

Just a couple weeks before Robert came into the world early, Brian's employer, Tiger Stripe Paintball (doing business as Special Ops Paintball), laid all employees off and closed its doors. Brian was able to secure the name of Special Ops Paintball for himself and carry on the Special Ops Paintball soft goods line of products. However, the company's medical insurance ended with the closing of Tiger Stripe Paintball.

All of the care that has gone into keeping little Robert in this world has a price and it is adding up by the thousands of dollars every day. He is still in the hospital, and Brian and Kelley don't know when they will be taking him home.

If you can spare a few dollars, Brian and Kelly would really appreciate any help that will get them through this ordeal. You can donate any dollar amount by clicking one of the donate buttons.

The button will take you to a PayPal transaction process for your donation, but you do not need a PayPal account or to go through the PayPal transaction process if you would rather use your credit card directly. To donate using a normal credit card transaction process, click the "Continue" link where it states: "Don't have a PayPal account? Use your credit card or bank account (where available)."

Make sure to print off the receipt for tax write-off purposes.

"We thank all who can lend some assistance. Happy 2010!"
~ Brian & Kelly Russell

Cool swag to promote your sport!

Honey badger don't care! Honey badger don't give a @#$%.

Shipped price is valid to domestic buyers and will be USPS priority. International buyers are welcome, but will cover additional costs. Purchase of insurance is the buyers option. I will help out in the event of any shipping issues, but I will assume no financial responsibility once the package ships

Unless the man himself posted that I would be quite leery of any donations.

Deuce I understand your concern but being originally from the spec ops forums MOATI is really going through this. I didnt know of anything for donations but I did know he had complications with the child birth.

I wish him the best, if anyone can find out more info that would be great. To me these ar ethe kinds of things worth helping people with. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to my little ones. Maybe someone here that is also a specops member will be willing to start up a collection?

I've e-known Brian since the old A5OG forum and before he had anything to do with Cops911/SpecOps. He's good people. If anyone is cautious about donating, I can honestly say that it's legit.

I've know Brian and Kelly for 5-6 years now. They are good people going through a difficult time with their new son. NICU cost is 5-10K a day. This little guy is probably going to be a $1,000,000 Baby. If the insurance covers 80-90% of that ... well you do the math. He didn't ask for help, help was offered by the local PB community.

Here is a comment from Brian I clipped from the UMS Forum.

I asked Jared from Bad Karma to clarify it in their write up but I just want to get clear on 1 thing...Kelly has insurance and they are agreeing to simply add him to hers. As long as they follow through then it will "only" be a percentage of the bill that I need to cover.

As for Robert, he's doing well. He's been in the NICU for almost 2 months at this point. We don't know when we get to bring him home yet but we hope it will be soon. He's up to 4lbs 11oz (+2lbs since he was born) and he's in an open crib. He's taking full feeds by mouth (he's been on a feeding tube most of his young life) and his O2 needs are minimal to none.

The 2 things that worry me right now are that he's just getting over a suspected case of "NEC" (some of you medical guys could explain this much better than I) where we narrowly escaped needing surgery. Things look good as he was cleared to start eating again on Christmas Day but they need to keep an eye on it. The other is that he has "SVT's" which are episodes where his heart starts racing (sometimes over 300bpm). They say they don't hurt him and that he will most likely outgrow them but they did a full check on his heart to be safe and everything came back great.
