As I'm one of the non-drinking members of Pub Crawling (or light drinkers at it were) I didn't think to look

I don't really keep up with the electro world so I'm not really keen on the details but as well as I can tell, the ETek is basically the last year's model Ego sold at a more reasonable price. Is that description close enough for throwing horseshoes at government work?
The grip frame is supposed to be different from the high end EGO...other than that I'm not sure yet.

Has anyone raised concerns about the fact that a move to all electros might cause PC to shoot even more paint than they already do?
Yes. The concern has been raised by some but dismissed by most. Those going to Blanding this coming weekend(?) will find out...

The main difference between the markers is that the Ego was built using technology mainly developed for other markers. The original frames themselves are nothing more than E2 EclipseBlade frames and boards. The E-tek is supposedly built from the ground up rather than slapped together by borrowing ideas from the intimidator, autococker, etc. At least, that's what the company wants you to believe. In all reality, you're buying the old ego technology with some good upgrades. For example, the '05 ego and '06 E-Tek bolts, while based on the same basic design, have a few changes. The E-tek bolt for that year was basically the 05 bolt shortened to reduce travel and weight. Simply put, the E-tek for any given year is the previous generation of ego with the kinks worked out of it at the factory.

Oh, and yeah, you'll shoot a lot more paint.... I guarantee that. People are going to begin to rely on you guys to provide covering and supportive fire when you've got what amount to portable MG's in your hands. Time to haul out the old 8+1 packs!

I believe they make 6 + 5 packs, that's pretty much a whole case on your back!

Up until now I've carried a 3x Redz pack. I usually did not empty it myself. Last fall I had an e-cocker for the first time and found the pack inadequate for my needs

Pub Crawling officially uses a gray 5x Redz pack (plus all those little loops we've never used.....except Shanks....he carries upwards to 14 pods with him on the field )

I tuned the trigger pull on my ETEK today and just painted the trees in the backyard....yes...I fear I will be shooting much more paint this year...

I just counted and my under-used gray Redz pack is 5+4....so it's just short of a case of paint. I think I may need a Sherpa to carry paint in the future

lol. I rarely carry more than 30 rounds extra on the field. Of course I almost exclusively use my phantom in rec games. I may be forced to bump up to the Ion on a regular basis for the tourneys but I'm principally a pump guy.

After picking up our angels for this season I went out and bought an NXE 5+4+2, I can carry just about a case on my back, 11 160 round dye poods + a hopper.
The Etek, which I bought and shot the day it came out, is a simplified Ego, the main differences are less milling, led rainbow display instead of lcd screen, single barrel instead of 2 piece, no QEV on rammer and no way to add one. It is a solid gun and you will enjoy shooting it. You also have a simplified maintenance cycle because there are no qev involved in the design.
