On the topic of USI... And most famously, guppy-packs that were copied from Kieth Idemas "ICS Gear". At a 1992 tournament, Idema was so angry that he tracked down the president of USI, and proceeded to beat the crap out of him.

Funny how it's the whole kit and not just the "unsafe" pistol

OK, yes, you've mentioned once or twice... or three times. You're coming pretty close to trolling here.

Awesome, have fun shooting it at yourself

Cheers,

Clips go down in guns (like the M1 Garand). Magazines go up into guns (think the Colt 1911 or AR-15 for a rifle reference).

Also. Tiberius is just trying to re-coup lost profits....while they sent out a deal to the Police Depts., probably to try to garner a larger portion of the thousands of depts. across the country. What they are now trying to do is protect there arses....and make more money by selling you a $239 gun....

I am calling "sales and marketing" shenanigans on this one....

wait are they saying it CAN'T fire .68 cal PBs, or the would PREFER if it didn't fire .68 cal PBs because of liability bull****? are they truly not safe? i can't afford any Tiberius products, just this was a long shot with my parents! a gift certificate is FREAKING USELESS!

i think i'm screwed...

Eric -
A big to Tiberius for trying to look out for safety and also not have potential customers get screwed out of 100 bucks by one of your customers selling things they shouldn't be selling to the general public. I also appreciate there is probably some PR/liability CYA action going on here, despite the warnings emblazoned on the marker and in the manual about not using them for recreational purposes.

I'm considering the gift cert as there's some other Tib equipment I would like to purchase, however...I think you would probably get significantly better reception if you released a "SA-8 Paintball Upgrade Kit" and sold it for 20-30 bucks or so. Include a T8 reg spring, and either lower pressure relief valve internals (lower price) or just an anodized back block with a T8 relief valve installed (no other screws, site, bolt carrier, etc). Alternately, simply offer a weaker, fixed relief spring that will blow at pressures resulting in a 320ish velocity. By offering an upgrade kit for a minimal price, people still get their cheap pistol, while Tib gets the peace of mind knowing that upgraded guns are safe not to mention an extra source of profit on markers they've already "sold" once.

As evidenced by our ginormous thread(s), people have done a pretty thorough job of ripping the SA-8s down and figuring out what makes them unique, and the springing seem to be the only significant differences. Frankly, if people have an SA-8 that is consistently chronographed at a field legal velocity, I don't think there is any good reason for them NOT to be able to use it recreationally. It has a safety, and velocity can be adjusted to safe levels but not on the fly without tools. Many classic markers that are still played with to this day don't have these features.

One more thing; is this a prelude to a public press release asking/instructing fields to ban these markers? If so, please be explicitly clear to the public. Offering a gift cert is awesome but such a move could definitely steer people toward the gift cert if it's a choice between that and a paperweight.
