I don't quite get the hate for NPPL's pump division. The only reason why NPPL has it is because Kristen (of the OSC) lobbied to get it in for years. Originally, she was just trying to get an exhibition game in during finals. Chuck finally gave her the okay to run it at HB in '08 and it's taken off from there. That first NPPL HB pump event was billed as an OSC event. Plus, the only events I've seen Chuck play at over the past couple of years have been pump events (OSOKO and OSC). NPPL's pump event has improved with time. 1) Prizes. The first event was trophies only. They started giving out free and discounted entries in addition to trophies. Now, they're giving a percentage of the entry pool, as they do for other divisions. 2) Finals. The first event had us still playing the prelims while other teams were getting their awards ceremony. The last few events have scheduled the finals along with the semi-players. The award ceremonies also coincide with the semi-players. 3) Reffing. The reffing at last year's finale in Vegas was on point. Marc Gottfried, Lalo, Chupa Ray, Dan Perez, and others who have played and supported pump for years were out there working hard and making fair calls. 4) Schedule. Switching to a 2-day schedule has helped a lot. We played 16 games in HB and had a late start when it was a 1-day event. In order for them to allow more pump teams to compete, they're going to need to switch to the 3-day schedule that the other divisions use. NPPL's pump division provides an opportunity for pump players to play at a national level tournament. Semi players are taking the brunt of the costs to play at a venue like HB by paying 4-5 times the entry fee that a local would cost them. Pump players are paying double, which is still less than half what the semi divisions are paying. Blowfish, Hitmen, and Flipped Out were paying full price to play pump against semi just a few years ago. Life is good for pump players right now. There are plenty of people to play, tournaments at a local and national level, fun private games, and significant movements outside of the traditional hot spots. Go out and enjoy what you like, you never know when the next dry spell will come around. Anyone else remember playing the GWS pump division where they only had 3 prelim games? I hope things never get that bad again. For the record, I brought teams to OSC STL and HI in order to help support pump tournaments outside of CA. Those were some of the best times I've ever had in paintball. |

I apologize for the comment I made against the PPL. Thanks for posting the info. It's really great to hear that they're actually treating the pump teams with the respect that they deserve.

I'm going to be the fat bearded tattooed guy in a Milwaukee jersey. I am stoked to spend time with fellow stand up pumpers. Ink
