They used to be $300 new. And they sold like crazy then, too.

I really don't see the issue. There's only 1 way to tell if something is overpriced. If people won't buy it. Is a DM7 or A1 at $1400 overpriced? They sell, so no.

I do wonder if that was what their "plan" was with the Ion. Sell it at rock bottom costs so they could get enough money to pay the bills. Thus cutting away the size of the market for other manufacturers' guns. Which in turn makes them sell less and possibly close doors. Just another one of those Big Business tactics.

Dealer cost for a Proto Rail is about $170, they retail for about $400... there is a much larger profit margin as opposed to an Ion that costs the dealers very close to the same thing...

I know this because I work at UPS and cannot be held responsable for sneaking a peak at the invoice Dye has so lovingly put on the OUTSIDE of their nicely logo'd boxes...

I don't know who the package went to, but in there wholesale price list has 24 + guns at a lot more than that price. So ether you misread it or that is 1000+ pricing.
On a side note you are correct there is a higher profit on the rails than the Ion. But not that much!!!

I am quite certain that a major aspect of the Ions production is getting brand loyalty.

And if the PMR is that cheap for dealers, I might need to go work at a PB shop!

It was for one gun. The guy pushes alot of Dye product however, maybe they threw the deal at him for reasons that an invoice cannot say. I'd love to get into the name of the company and all that but honestly it's none of my business, I was just curious. I thought it might be way to good to be true.

This is another reason I don't like Smart Parts. They're now the only company I've heard of to actually raise the price of a product after it's come out.
