New 7 round MAGAZINE for the TPX

New 7 round clip for the TPX helps eliminate jams

Quote:
Tippmann is pleased to announce a new Tru-Feed Straight Stack magazine for the TPX .68 Caliber Paintball Pistol. This new design holds 7-balls instead of the traditional 8-balls. We understand that the staggered design of the original 8-ball magazine may not be ideal in every situation or paint choice. Depending on variables such as paint, temperature and humidity, the 8-ball magazine could potentially experience feed issues. To ensure that every TPX Pistol operates perfectly out of the box, we made the decision to include the new 7-ball Tru-Feed magazine, rather than the staggered 8-ball magazine, with TPX Pistols. This change will be effective immediately.

Over the last few months Tippmann has made a number of changes to the TPX Pistol that has given the end user a wider variety of CO2 cartridges and paintballs. This final change will now take the performance of the TPX to a new level. Although there is a reduction of one paintball, players will find that a wider variety of paintball types can now be used with the TPX Pistol. This new 7-ball magazine will also be available in a traditional two-pack accessory. Both the pistol and accessory packaging will feature the new TPX Tru-Feed logo. In addition, we will continue offering the staggered 8-ball magazine as an accessory for those players who place importance on the additional capacity or may not be experiencing any feed issues based on the paint they use or the weather in which they play.

i never messed with a TPX... but would loading only 7 rounds in the standard TPX mag also prevent any jamming/break issues?

it helps - but part of the problem with the mag design is that since it staggers the ball on ball contact is greater. each ball has to rotate to the front of the mag to exit - so they stick right at the neck.

This puts them all in a stack - so the balls don't have to rub to get out of the mag.

he he. balls... rub...

I think I remember AgentSmith saying somewhere a 15-round extended mag was on the horizon too. Don't quote me on that though, I could be wrong.

What I have to laugh about is the marketing.... "Tru-Feed"? Seriously?

I don't think the TPX is a bad pistol. I had a pretty crappy experience with mine overall, but the thing that pissed me off the most about it was how long-delayed it was, supposedly to "get everything right", and then it still had so many problems. CO2 cap, spring, bolt, bumper, etc, all replaced (I think the learned their lesson from the hype marketing campaign though- look how the Phenom was only officially announced when it was already ready to be released). Then I still had mags jamming to all hell in the humidity. Now their best solution is a 7 ball mag? I'm not trying to say that one ball is a huge deal, but on principle, it pisses me off. I wouldn't be nearly as agitated if they had at least gone the extra mile and redesigned them to be 8 round straight mags. I feel I was sold an 8-shot pistol, I shouldn't have to "downgrade" for it to work properly.

But in all honesty, when the weather was dry, mine worked great, and I miss it. I could honestly say that if 15-round straight mags come out for it, and prove reliable, that I would consider purchasing another one.

But 7 just doesn't do it for me. I'll stick with the $50 Zeus I picked up rather than go with 7 round mags.
