Honestly I dont mind the ION. Its made for a specific price range, and it works very well for that range. It is much better than the sear tripper electros for the same price (The Promaster is a much better gun for the price range, IMHO). I would have liked the newer shocker, except for the crappy aluminum they make them out of. When a gun cant hold an anno job, and the grip frame can be twisted 45* without breaking, is just stupid. I love the old shoeboxes, and the PVI's were the best shockers IMHO. So for actual equipment, I dont mind SP, but their business practices are not my cup of tea. I DO own a Freak system and its just as good as any other barrel I own. But its nice to be able to easily match the paint, and I got a great deal on it used, So my money didnt actually got to SP......

Tippyman76, you can multi-quote using the symbol to the right of the "quote" button. It's a cool feature that was added an update or three ago.

I don't mind the new Shockers. They shoot nice and are made to take slightly more abuse than their more recent fragile predecessors. SP says that some of the additions, notably the ability to run CO2, are for games where air may not be available, such as some local woods fields. This leads me to believe that they are adapting their current product for a wider range of users and tapping into the scenario and rec market that way, instead of just bolting on a bunch of rails and impractical heavy stuff to attract the milsim-ers. The same can't be said for the ION/SP8, but an ion with a rail body is pretty similar looking to an AGD Tac-1 and I think they were trying to avoid the similarity, at the same time finding a futuristic looking gun to turn their space gun into. Just my .02 cents on it.

Their moral fabric looks like one of those blue tarps after a road trip on a pickup bed so I can't say I like them for their charm.

The ION is a good trainer gun too. As much as we dislike the idea for the most part, the tourneys encourage and promote high ROF markers. If the beginner learns on a high ROFmarker than I think he or she is more likely to learn fire control earlier as well. A beginner could very well improve to develop different tactics and flip the game on it's head, but until he does he has to run with the big boys and learn their play style in order to counter it. You wouldn't want your 747 pilot training on a piper cub, but a simulator or a smaller jet will give him a good idea of what to expect. This is the practice gun.

[QFD] Do not, I repeat, DO NOT read any handgun magazines or any magazines related to guns. These rags thrive on making people feel outgunned and underarmed and if you read any of them, before long you will be trying to figure out how to conceal a .44 magnum under a t-shirt and shorts without ramming it up your ***. What alot of people don't realize is NPS and PMI have done alot of crumby things too I mean christ they all make knock offs of everyone elses stuff Every part on an Icon is interchangable with a spyder. Most store and field owners that fell a little behind could tell you that in the last few years they were very unforgiving and would quickly take legal action instead of working with you. I'm not saying smart parts is the good guy in this I'm just saying KEE isn't the good guy either. This is an all out douchefest.

I should pattent allen wrenches, or squeeges, lol. You gotta love monopolies...lol. I dunno, I've heard the evil gun actually is pretty much a ripoff from my friend who is a loyal pmi/evil customer. I dunno though, SP is pretty sue-happy, (it's like triggerhappy, but with lawsuits!)

KEE is is a new company an investment group bough PMI (persuit marketing Inc) and NPS (national paintball supply) and merged them the were the two giants in paintball wholesale up untill a few years ago if you had a shop or a field you pretty much had to buy from them because of some of the products they carried. national is probbly most famous for its empire line of gear, realoaders, the new invert mini and pmi is most noted for its paint, marbalizer, rps, rampage, premium and it's evil line of products. most of the employees are from both of the companys, new sheep skin same old wolf inside.

Personally I like SP's products for the most part,But,I hate the company for their poor business practices.I hope they get their asses handed to them again like they did vs. WDP.
