It looks like an automated booster - they used to use manual ones at the old NPPL tourneys.

You are mistaken. You attach your standard paintball tank, and the shoebox require an 85psi compressor. Then you turn it on and it fills your tank.

I know this is a terrible idea, but I wonder if you can daisychain tanks...

That is not how it works. It has a 85psi input and it connects to your 4500 tank and slowly fills it. The input is to just start it.

Good for Tom and good for us. I use a SCUBA which I can fill semi-locally, but for those without the filling option, or even owning a SCUBA, this would be a very good replacement.

This is by far one of the best investment I have made in paintball. Basically all set-up I can fill up my 68/4500 to 4500 psi in 4hrs and my scuba tank to 3000psi in 24h. Perfect for me who likes tinkering.
Also since my ARK will get me over 2000 shots I like coming to an event fully ready and not having to depend on local air source.

Maintenance is a breeze and Tom Kaye simply a genius!

My only beef is that combined with the compressor it is somewhat loud but that s a small price to pay.

And for those complaining about the price ($430) I must wonder how much glue they inhale

I don't see how we did that bad. This was posted at various points of rumors and development. The first post I found on the forum is 10/16/10.
