i talked about this with my buddy nick on the way to a game. he plays D3 psp so im gonna trust his logic here. we debated how interesting it would be to play X-ball with only 4 pods per player and a hopper. instead of 6-8 or 1-2 for fronts.
could be neat.

The entry fees are based on the field time, and are the same as the unlimited paint divisions. PSP events are the most inexpensive way to play tournaments, but they are also a lot different than any other events as well.

You do get 8-12 games in the prelims at the $1k entry fee, and play about 24 games in the $2,600 division.

And with the limited paint format, entry+paint at PSP is still going to be less expensive than entry+paint at any unlimited paint event anywhere.

And there is something I don't understand... why are entry fees so expensive in US ?!
In France for example, each pump event of our national pump championship cost 150 Euros per team (approx. $220). Ok, our championship is not as famous as NPPL or PSP, but we have fun and it cost only 1/10 of PSP fees.

In Germany one OSC event cost 90 Euros...

Can someone explain me why is it so expensive ?
Not to sound staunchy, but Americans typically have more money to spend. Comparatively, we spend less money on cost of living and taxes, and therefore have more to spend on recreation. Not to mention the prestige of the events. PSP and NPPL are highly regarded worldwide. We had teams from Russia playing D2 at Chicago last year. I can't even tell you how many different languages I hear at the World Cup events. We even invite a whole staff of Millenium refs for Cup. It's massive.

I am all for this move. The play sounds absolutely awesome.

It'll be interesting to see the pump turnouts. NPPL has a hard time getting many teams outside of socal/vegas.
I think NPPL had a good start introducing pump in the tournaments a couple of years ago but they kept creeping the entry fees up before they had a real following. I think it was ~$500 for the first event(s) and now it's up to $1200.

You just aren't going to draw big crowds from the pump subculture with those prices (outside of socal/vegas).

PSP no longer has coaching as of this season.

PSP accepts that it's impossible to control spectator participation and thus does not control spectator participation from the spectator sideline.

It should be noted however that spectator participation is only varying degrees of effective, primarily depending on how many people are on the sideline - the more people there, the less it matters on the field.

You're always welcome to jump in with us if you need to. We'd be happy to help orphans find a home even for one tourney.

Chris Raehl I just want to say thanks for the info.. well received and greatly appreciated.
