The heavy platform meant that the user could make use of heavier bullets for knocking down target pins, without having to worry about recoil as much. It was never intended, or designed, for any sort of combat, or self-defense. It wasnt until Arnold (and other Hollywood actors) started using them in action movies that they became popular, and an entire mythos about them was developed. I had a rare aluminium frame .44, and a later steel frame .440 corbon. Fantastic target guns. You can EASILY fire the .44 with a single hand, fairly steady. But the extreme weight, and bulk makes it nearly worthless for any sort of self-defense. Note: I also had a BB-gun that was designed to look like the Desert Eagle. When compared side-by-side, they had the exact same dimensions. Nick

If you ask me rap4 made an accurate replica of this piece- a pistol that looks great but fires an impractical round with no real benifit making it mostly for show. But that's just the way I think, never liked the .43 paintballls.... BTW First post! Wooot! ![]() |

I used to speed-target shoot with miitary friends (Army, Rangers), and neck shots are attainable with ease, to the point of a smiley face. Would it be feasible to lug the weight around, no. I would lug my Kimber any day over my glock, colt, DE or etc. As to self defense, assuming home-style, I would be surprised if you had to pull the trigger when using it to persuade or defend. If you did, the culprit will be knocked down by the sheer force of the magnum bullets. Whereas, my .40 and .45 would take more precision on where the load hit the assailant or which ammo is used (jacketing). But I would prefer the DE in my hands than my SuperBlackhawk in .44. Beyond 6ft, does it matter if the gun is heavy or light? Any closer and you can just hit em with the gun....so no need to have a bat! |

Nothing turns heads like a DE. I'll see if I can dig up a pic of mine. |

They've relieved the barrel to add the mount slots in a way that would make it very unsafe. Now if Rap4 came out with the long barrel versions that would be pretty cool. Ah the toys they come out with now a-days. E

I still remember the very first day I took mine hunting. I was with a group of 5 friends. Everyone else had conventional rifles, but I wanted to start using a handgun, for a challenge. We entered the woods, and SUDDENLY A DEER JUMPED IN FRONT OF US! Scared the **** out of me and my friends. Nobody had there guns loaded yet (because of hunting rules), EXCEPT ME. Without even thinking, I pulled the gun out of my chest holster, pointed to the running deer and BLAM, BLAM, BLAM, BLAM, BLAM, BLAM, BLAM, BLAM!!!! I saw bark exploding off of trees, and dirt flying as the rounds slammed into the ground. My friends all dived out of the way, yelling at me, but after the 1st round, I was totally deaf! I was also using hot handloads, which made a fireball the size of a european car. All that... and I didn't even get the deer! nick

the .43 paint sucks. Bigtime. I had a M4 a while back. Very cool, prone to jamming just like the real thing when the mag wasnt in right, but fast and gun with selectable FA. Crappy thing was... I couldnt get the paintballs to break on ROCKS. From 10 feet. Couple local marines like to come to the field and use the.. but they know just as well as I.. if they dont get a break, the player isnt out. Most times, they wont get a break. Heck, we had them bouncing off a steel pole shooting 350fps.. WTF?
