While I do agree that this is excellent news, I must disagree with your suspicion regarding marker sales. I have seen mention in multiple places that demand for the ego11 is surpassing their rate of manufacture... There's actually something of a waiting list for the markers.

Actually Ego11's are sold out at most places. Part of it because they decided to scale back production. But it shows there is a demand for them.

I picked up a Ego11 at world cup and sold it 3 days later. To this day I still shoot my ego7 in speedball.

Maybe they have gotten too big or the demand is too great to go to a system where buyers and pick and choose individual parts, finishes, and annos like CCM. I think the SL line should have gone in that direction especially considering their slogan of "A choice. Not a compromise."

And as a result, they're not as popular as the ones who do.

I'm not saying ego mad a bad choice by doing this, but it was smart to do it yearly, until they got a good group of users who are committed to them.

Waiting list does not mean anything. If they post number showing the number of markers they have sold over the year and the ego11 is in fact just blowing away sales then yes I will believe the hype. I'm guessing the truth is their sales have been on a major decline the past few releases and to counter it like any smart company you first start by creating a demand.

They are creating a demand by making them less available. Less availability increases consumer interest, reduces costs to them, and lets them produce exactly the number of markers needed to meet demand in the market. If anything a waiting list proves my theory.

Look at CCM, take a guess at how many markers they have just sitting around waiting for owners. If you check their ebay store a bunch like I do you know that number is essentially never more than like 5. They constantly shift all their resources to exactly what the market demands as we have seen time and again with new product releases from them.
