I thinl with the yearly release they were seeing ppl wait a year and buy in 2ndary market at a drasticly reduced price. Now if you know your gun won't be replaced in 8 months with something different why not by new and get the best.

I'm not saying ego mad a bad choice by doing this, but it was smart to do it yearly, until they got a good group of users who are committed to them.
In my opinion, Angel popularity took a big hit when they were late on adding eyes to their guns, which took until like 2004. DYE had their Matrix by then, Bob Long had the Intimidator, SP had their new Shocker out. WDP was still putting out at least one gun every year until the A1 platform, and by that point they had already dropped in popularity.

they'll just keep releasing the limited edition SL varients every year I bet, small runs almost certain to sell out.

And yes, I think once you get all the bugs worked out, it's really impossible to make a better gun. Think about the Ego11

Amazing ergonomics
Amazing ASA
Amazing OLED Board(or LCD, whatever)
Amazing Barrels
Amazing Feednecks
Amazing Triggers
Amazing Looks In my opinion
Amazing Shot, very, very smooth
Most advanced solenoid in the industry
Extremely Lightweight
Amazing Internals in the 3(4?)rd stage of development
Very little maintenance

I honestly can't think of a way to improve the ego11. That's what I love about Eclipse though. When they have someone complain about something on a gun, they usually fix it in the next run.

On the 08 ego, they said it kicked too much, had annoying QEV's and the trigger guard was small.

On the 09 ego, the slowed to ram down, got rid of QEV's and opened up the trigger guard.

The technology was just dated by the time they caught up really.

Once you get the best product, it's hard to improve on.

He was saying that none of the major companies had stopped putting out a new gun per year, and WDP/APS did that in like 2007.
