Hey MO,

Sorry to hear the new SO didn't work out the way many of us may have wanted/anticipated. It's a tough pill to swallow but that's part of life. You have plenty of friends that will support you in whatever you end up doing next, me included.

Maybe losing that SO Brigade patch off my vest this past year was some kind of sign without me knowing it... dundundun.

Brian, Posted something for you on the Underground.
Regenerate brother and move forward. You have managed to navigate the politics of this sport with integrity for a long run. Not many could have done it. I wish you and your family the best. I have a feeling we will have to change your name to The Phionix (wish I knew how to spell) in the future. And to think we met in the Alamo at forestfire and survied. LOL

Thats not how I remember. Back at the field I worked at, from 88-94 or so, you could not buy direct from Sheridan/Nelson/Tippmann/AGD/CCI/WGP/etc. You could get brochures from them, but they would only list preferred distributors.

Instead, both consumers and retailers went through distributors like: skanline, taso, command post, PMS, Bullseye, etc.

It was the traditional model, if a comsumer bought from the distributor, you would pay MSRP. If you bought wholesale, you got discounts based on volume.

It meant you pretty much had to go through your local field. And smaller fields were usually stuck with a single distributor since they had to meet a monthly quota in order to keep wholesale status. The problems started when distributors like Gino, and Statler (Bullseye) started pushing for exclusive distribution rights.

This is what killed the Vector. If you had a small local field, who only went through TASO-East.... then you could not get one. Same issue with Montneel, and lots of guns with distributor problems.

Obviously that model no longer works with the internet. Anyway can have a storefront. Sometimes they are just fronts for other companies. The difference between retail and wholesale means little.

When i say "we got everything from the mfgr" i mean when i used to order for the shop, we would go direct to the mfgr. This was circa 2004-6. I know for a fact, we used to deal direct with, tippmann, JT, DYE, BT, Bob long, Planet eclipse, WGP. some of the stuff we would get from NPS cause the price was better. Most of the companies listed above had dealer price scales that would reflect more dealer savings with the purchase of higher quantity products. And i do know we still deal direct with DYE, and Tippmann, as well as planet eclipse and bob long. ALL of the other companies pretty much go thru KEE. And we dont carry valken products... for various reasons.
