Creative punishment for paintball vandals

Paintballers Told to Target Their Own Cars

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- A judge ordered two paintball shooters to take aim at their own cars in order to stay out of jail.

Joshua Breeding, 20, and 19-year-old Christopher Lyons were found guilty on Thursday of splattering up another man's vehicle with paintballs in May. They each got a sentence of 60 days in jail.

Municipal Court Judge Michael Cicconetti gave them the option of shooting their own cars with paintballs and then cleaning up the mess. They also have to spend 40 hours painting at a Habitat for Humanity home.

The judge also ordered the pair to apologize to their victim and pay court costs.

Good for the judge! Sound judgement, with the punishment equal to the crime. I do hope the Habitat House gets painted using rollers, not paintballs.

I hope the judge had the good sense to mandate a velocity boost beforehand

I live near Painesville. This story has been all over the news with video. From the video I saw, no eye protection was involved when these guys marked their cars...

/sigh

I love this guy !! Judge Michael Cicconetti is known for his unusual sentences that he hands out. He give the defendants a choice of jail time or something else to do. Some of his better ones are:

- sentencing with motorists who sped through school zones, making them spend a day working as a school crossing guard.
- A man called an officer a pig while shouting obscenities during a confrontation. His punishment was to stand on a city sidewalk for two hours in a pen next to a 350-pound pig along with a sign reading, “This is not a police officer.”
- A man who flees from the police is sentenced to run with Police Officers in race
- Couple has to apologize in newspaper for public sex act
- Man and woman vandalize baby Jesus statueare sentenced to march through town with donkey

When asked why he chooses these sentences, he thinks that his sentences work better than Jail. His best quote is “I don’t want to deal with putting people in prison for life. The only time I give a life sentence over here is when I marry a couple.” There are times Ohio sucks but this guy is GREAT !!!!

Thumbs up He is the man!!!

This judge is the best!! I think the punishment should fit the crime. Unlike our speeding tickets. $100 ticket and a surcharge on your insurance for going a little to fast. Hell he would probably make me stand on the side of the road for a few hours with a go slow sign. LOL
