The new model was the same price every year. Nobody was obligated to buy brand new... But like with cars, there's a certain allure to having the latest.

This line of discussion, and the frequency it pops up is reflective of the immaturity in the paintball community. You never hear a porsche enthusiast whining about how this years 911 pricing isn't worth the 25 horsepower increase.

That's actually my point alpha. Saint is complaining that he bought a $130 gun and had to tinker with it a bit to get it up to specs. That's exactly my point. And more over is that I can't think of a single example of any current fsr markers that come perfect out of the box. Or don't have their own set of cons to go with the pros. And that's why I simply don't believe that the saying you get what you pay for holds water. Especially here. In this case you get a lot of gun for 130. Is it perfect? No. But I don't think there's a gun that is. Maybe the one that one day I'll commission to have built from the ground up to my exact specifications. But than I would have to be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for that. As far as porsche goes I don't really think much of porsche fans anyway but that would have to be a whole other thread.

It might be more appropriate to compare the Hammer-7 with the Empire Trracer.
Did those also have widespread velocity/farting problems out of the box?

No but he bolt fell apart. That remains to be seen with the hammer. It was also promised to be mag fed.... Eventually. This comes mag fed.

My Empire Trracer didn't have issues. Thing was a champ brand new. I shoulda kept it (stock bolt started getting premature wear on the lip from the hammer sear, sold it, THEN they released a steel hammer... bummer).

The Hammer 7 is comparable but with mag option, dual detents and straight feed. It's a little heavier than the Trracer from what i remember, probably because the body seems meatier, but so far i haven't come across a legitimate downside.

I don't even care about First Strikes, i just think the Hammer 7 is cool, and within my peasant-like budget.

That's another thing to consider. The top rail is aluminum and is all one piece the body. The top rail of the trracer wasnt
