Apparently holds 320 balls.

Where is the air through stock now?

Makes sense if it is using the Rotor as it's basis. A Rotor is about 150-180 but can be used on any paintball marker thus your customer base is everyone who plays paintball. You'll make, and sell, a lot just because of that fact.

This is only the Dye DAM and thus your customer base is MUCH smaller. You won't recoupe costs through volume thus you have to do it by marking the price up high in anticipation of selling far fewer units.

Not saying it's not pricey, but rather I expected it to be roughly double the price I paid for my DyeCam Rotor...and it is.

I wonder if DYE will adjust the price of their DAM/Boxmag combo now that the Empire DFender is out.

I doubt it. Most people already have a hopper so you don't HAVE to get a hopper when you get a DAM but if you WANT to move the hopper off the top, you can. Not every DAM owner is going to go box mag (though this one probably will) as it makes switching to First Strinkes, one of the DAM's biggest selling points, more cumbersom and since the DFender cannot shoot First Strikes and is based off a lower end marker (the Axe vs. the DM) Dye can continue to keep their prices where they are at since they offer "more features".

Admittedly, the boxmag looks cumbersome. But I like it. It keeps the top profile low while still offering a force fed loader to operate on it.

I can dig it. Just playing the waiting game to see if I'll really go get it or something similar. Still gotta replace my current speedball options with something a little more "this gen". My 05 and 08 items are awesome. But parts are either super scarce or nil.

I think it's to big, why not go with 200 round capacity? The foregrip will become obsolete unless you like holding your gun with your arm at a 90. But, I do think it is pretty cool. If dye was smart they would make it compatible with all mag fed guns. All you'd have to do is make the box mag interchangeable with other mag designs. no reason they couldn't make the mag insert with a quick release so you could swap out to another mag top. Of course you'd have to get licensing from the other companies though...

Edit*

Now that I think about it, 320 makes sense. Two dye pods brings it to full capacity. more ammo the better when your a heavy gunner. But aesthetically its just to big in my opinion.
