stupid idea, there's no guarantee that the asteroid in question would always have the same face constantly oriented at the sun. most reliable method is still to break it into smaller pieces, hopefully without nuclear bombs.

I think it would work better if they attached a paintball gun to the asteroid and have it fire. Those who know how physics work in space will understand what I'm talking about
