I need one of those, the orange is so much cooler than black.
I always wonder when these things are used, especially pepperball etc., what if you chop a ball?

That's my question too... I've always had problems with mag-fed pistols when it comes to leaving the balls in the mag for more than an hour or so (even with the follower locked down), they wind up squishing together or clinging to the walls of the mag and causing jams and chops. I can't imagine an LEO carrying one on a 12 hour shift and having them function reliably.

Of course, I'm assuming they're still using a gelatin shell, it could very well be that they use the Perfect Circle corn-based plastic shell which wouldn't have problems sticking to each other and are much more resistant to chops and breaks.

what about the co2 bleed? I get that the tpx doesn't pierce, so they'd have to squeeze twice, or risk the co2 bleeding out before they get around to using it.

Thats whats nice about the TPX compared to other 68cal pistols it can sit or holstered ready to go on a moments notice with out the risk of bleedout.

Well thats one thing about it, it's NOT a paintball. So they can make the shell out of thin plastic if they want and shoot them at 500fps.

The pepperballs I have seem to have a plastic shell. Also the fill is a powder not a liquid so they are more durable.

The article states the pellet is only 1 gram. That seems too light to have a proper trajectory.

It'll never pass the risk assessment for our officers to use it, particularly for its marketed use of marking trouble makers in crowds. Too much chance of it flying off in someones face.

I know a lot of you think its stupid our police don't normally carry guns but a few months ago there was an instance of two officers being grenaded and shot in Manchester, the press immediately went mad saying "give the police guns". When the police were asked the majority said they didn't want them and about 25% said they would leave the police if they had to carry them.

I suspect that the percentage of american police shot with their own guns is higher than the percentage of UK cops shot at all so maybe its not such a bad idea to be unarmed.

they do get pepper spray and tazers though, been a couple of incidents of them getting carried away with the tazers and ending up on youtube.

I'm just trying to imagine why this application makes any sense.
If the officer is in a situation where he can recognize a target for "tagging", draw, aim, and fire at this suspect, why wouldn't you also want to make an arrest at the same time? The types of situations where identifying the subject later and verifying their identity are more likely to be things riots or large-scale disturbances where you would want to distribute a "marking" agent over a large area, not pinpoint it at specific individuals when you could be using the same time/equipment to immediately incapacitate them.

On the other hand, maybe this sort of thing has an application for tournament paintball. Wanna catch a wiper? Stop the game and force everyone to take DNA tests to see for certain who has and who hasn't been hit yet!
