and before anyone starts, YES I have met Ollie Lang Twice before in person... Had the misfortune of being @ a field at the same time when he (and whatever team he was on) was there.

Didn't like him THEN, didn't like him Before seeing him in person, Don't like him Now.

Is that really fair to judge a person like this before I can actually know someone? I mean outside the pbfield? Probably not. At the same time, unless someone can give me ONE good example of these players and Mr. Lang in general, I won't be changing my opinions of him or the NPPL in general.

Oh, and my distaste of these so-called "pros" is not limited to Mr. Lang...

Okay now, let's be fair! (here it comes )

NO ONE said Tourny paintball sux...

What we (meaning I) said was certain tourney paintball players and the way they play and the people who are running it (NPPL, etc) sux.

I've only followed this from the outside with mild interest, so sue me if I don't have the minute by minute breakdown of how things went.

It's a joke. For both sides.

I don't really care if you feel you're getting jobbed, or if you are tired, or whatever childish crap excuse anyone comes up with for how things went down. Show some freaking pride and man up. Get out there and win or lose without any of the rest of this garbage.

I've played Impact for years, and not once have I ever seen them settle, not once. Bart, why start now?

If Ollie Lang realized he could use the jumbo tron to his advantage than he is clearly a genius and deserves all the paintball wins he has ever achieved.

Exploitation of rules is the players duty. It refines the way the game is regulated.

That sounds fun. This big mess makes me want to go to a tournament myself.

Maybe Ollie somehow was inspired by the Patriots taping hand signals or whatever nonsense.

So I was bored out of my mind and I read the 2007 NPPL Official Rules

Nothing in the whole document stating you could not do what Mr. "Professional" did. In fact, most of the drivel was a list of things you are NOT allowed to do...Of course, I am sure the NPPL rules committee will simply add "Players are NOT allowed to look at Jumbotrons to call out opponents positions during game play" to next years rule book...

Hell, I mean these people HAD to add Rule 21.07 where it states:
Quote:
Teams and players participating in an NPPL sanctioned tournament shall not engage in conduct that would bring the NPPL, the promoter or any sponsor into disrepute. During any tournament weekend, players must not: discharge loaded markers in any un-goggled areas; harass or intimidate any individuals (including event staff and spectators); provoke a physical altercation or otherwise incite violence, wear or displaying offensive pictures, words or logos; intentionally damage or destroy private property (including hotels), or engage in any other criminal, destructive, dangerous activity that would cast the sport of paintball in a negative light.
WTF were you so-called pro's doing Before this rule was put into place?

And further down the 2007 Cheaters handbook reads:

23.07, subsection 2 that specifically puts a disqualification plus forfeiture of points from the NPPL Super 7 World Series tournament if Two opposing teams conspiring to fix the outcome of any game.

Again, these rules were put onto the handbook because there was an Issue of this nature...

And promoters wonder why this sport does not have more public support... It's because those that are in the know have in their minds that something is obviously rotten to the very core of "professional" paintball... And then there are the outsiders looking in, they get to see the latest chapter of "I'll scratch your back if..." with this dual champ BS out of Kansas...

There's nothing wrong with speedball. In situations like this, it's the guys on the speedball field messing it up.

I agree that as long as Ollie had NO Integrity, Dignity or Faith in his team what he did was fine.
Nobody's giving Bill Belicheck a free pass like this, because that's a real sport! It's cheating and dishonest, whether there's a rule or not!

I'ma coming out of the woods! I always wanted to see myself play on the big screen and to be able to do it during the game! WOW!

It sounds like this guy traded all his honor and self-esteem for an empty pod and both sides got a fair deal!
