The Protege looks plain because Bob stuck with 2D milling in an effort to keep machining costs down. To be honest, I was not a fan when I saw the first rendering, and was even less enthusiastic when I saw the first cut body. However, when the gun is set up with a tank hopper and barrel, I think it looks quite nice.....Really nice in fact. It is far more graceful than the Defiant2 and has a simple, business like appeal. That being said, I think the Vice is even better. The 3D milling lends a much different look, and the abbreviated sleeve design allows the rear of the body to be narrower than the Protege. It will be interesting to see how many people find the smoother lines, the Tadao board, the upgraded eyes, the upgraded feed neck, the upgraded bolt, and the upgraded ASA to be worth the extra two hundred dollars. For me, the Vice would get the nod, even if I had to pay the difference.

Im going to get one sooner or later but its a race for which one is available in gold or kahki first hehe..

The upgrades arent that important to me as having shot a stock marq board.. which is what the protege has it really is plenty fast.. more so than any other stock timmy Ive ever shot too..

Is the feedneck stub a milled portion of the body like the Ego?

It's a new Bob Long gun with an MSRP of less than $1000. That in itself is noteworthy and I believe the first time in history it has ever occured.

It looks decent....the Vice is a step up from it.

I'm not big on the whole crazy 3D milling that Bob is known for. This is a nice change.
