They should also include free entry for anyone from KC to see just the tie breaker game.

Weak- Sauce

Its cool though, I really love it all. I would have never ever ever known anything at all about tournament paintball and now I know a little bit. It got me watching. Too bad this controversy wasnt on any widespread news because it would be interesting for the public too.

Since they are going to be playing @ Qualcomm Stadium, I wonder if they are going to be smart enough this time around to turn OFF their jumbotron?

And OT but is anyone planning to watch all that crap about these pro players on Fox Sports? It looks like they are producing a 13-episode "reality show" showcasing some of the so-called pro's and their lives in and out of paintball called < Xtreme Paintball:Beyond the Paint >

Looks too stupid for me to waste my time so please, if someone was to watch this, post a review of it...

4 days late! I bet the people/ players had nothing to do with this plan. My bet is the big sponsors threatened to pull the plug on the funds or sue for breach of contracts.

I say give each person on the team one Squadbuster and that is all. The team with the last man standing wins. Tissues and hankies to the losers...

Of course, in reality, I could care less if they never settle it. They can give the whole lot of them their binkys so they can cry themselves to sleep.

What happened would have no affect on sponsors contract. Theres no way anyone ever say this coming and put it in a contract. Maybe theres a clause in there for the NPPL allowing unbecoming activity, probably wouldn't even be that broad though. You have to understand that every one saw that NPPL screwed up in letting them do that. They are fixing it,there probably wasn't some sneaky paintball politics about it, they just heard from a bunch of pissed off people.

why not give the title to the third-place team... the one that didn't cause all this conflict?
just an idea....

I live in KC and was actually tempted to go see the NPPL. Of course, other plans (beating people with sticks, *heh*) and the fact that I haven't been interested in tourney paintball since I quit playing it - back in the days when a mech 'cocker wasn't an oddity, it was a necessity - kept me away from it, and after following all of this, I'm glad I didn't go. What an embarrassment for ANY sport, much less a sport that is struggling to get acceptance from the mainstream media and public at large. And to finally come to a semi-correct decision only after your paying customers and supporters throw a fit to get it? Whoever said on the other news thread that the NPPL is more interested in keeping the players happy and not the fans had it right on the money.

And mike, the whole reality TV show bit? Sadly, it would be far more interesting watching that than pure tourney footage, even for those of us who like paintball. You have to admit, it's not a very videogenic sport, and I couldn't even begin to tell you who's who in the "pro" leagues these days. A reality show may be the best thing for the sport... though if they're following our "pros" who act anything but professional, maybe it's not such a great thing.

On third thought, reality TV lives off of conflict and drama from their participants, so our "pros" will be perfect. *sigh*

The NPPL is funded by the promoters or sponsors. The big teams are all sponsored by those very same companies. So they are all in bed together. I'm not a lawyer but the word collusion comes to mind. There is no honor or integrity in much of "PRO" paintball. It's capitalism; get attention...make money. Can't blame them. Good refs and honorable teams get tired of the cheating and rule breaking and get out.
I did...I reffed NPPL for 3years and got burned out from all the abuse and cheating. Went to KC the first day, thinking/hoping that things had changed. A few more refs on the field, but the same skull cracking clacking of electros, bad language and poor attitudes.

You can't really say the refs are bad man, a lot of them try really hard. Reffing any sport is tough.

I think that catalyst for the decision to do the tie breaker at the next event was the question of how many seed points to award.

I found the event very enjoyable to watch, up until the final 2 hours waiting for the tie to be announced. They did a good job, and the paintball is interesting to watch in person. It is difficult to watch on TV because you cannot see the entire field at once. The set up with the arena and stadium seatings made it easier to watch a game and see how they unfold.

Refereeing paintball is obviously very difficult. The problem appears to be that there is no formal process for protesting an misapplication of the rules. But, these problems with refereeing happen in any sport.
