What with them having Rice on staff, a pedigree for innovative design, and Tom Kaye's blessing to use the Automag design, Tippmann simply releasing the M98 over and over again is just lazy on their part. What with their income, pedigree, and resources I swear the reason people are sometimes hard on Tippmann is because we know they can do great things.

I actually think the GI buyout has the potential for some kicks to the posterior and we may see some good things come of it. Only time will tell.[/QUOTE]

Totally agree with this.Considering in there early years Tippmann was THE innovator in paintball with the SMG&FA,so ahead of their time they weren't field legal many places.
Tom Kaye is the Da Vinci of paintball, you can thank him for bringing back magfed and First Strikes thru Perfect Circle&Tiberius.
So much potential for Tippmann&GI

I hope they don't try the .50 cal again. Tippmann should be releasing their new mag fed platform at Extravaganza end of the month, my hopes and are high, my expectations are mixed though.

Tom Kaye has blessed a blow-forward Tippmann? Can you gimme more on this? Sounds like an interesting read.

The Model 98 platform is probably as advanced as the in-line blow-back can get. It's a solid, reliable, acceptably accurate gun. They have been refining the design for something like 25(?) years. I don't think it was lazy, I think they found their market and decided to keep it. It worked too, how many rental guns are not M-98's?

Seriously, I hope the gang at Tippmann gets the boost they need form the new owners.

The FM 50 was mag feed ready, they just never made or sold the mags for it, so mag fed is not far off. Now a mechanical high capacity mag that works like a cyclone feed and an R trigger in a .50 cal marker would be something to write home about.

Huh... I never noticed that. Phenom and Tipx are rather blow-forward. With a decent reg, these should be really nice guns. Cool.

Yeah, Beasto, I hope they are made in the US.

As I understand it, the majority of Tippmann's production is done in the US. However, some things are contracted out.

Made in USA can be deceiving. I think there was an article showing how a Toyota had more parts made in the US than a Ford truck, but the truck was "domestic." Both being assembled in the US, by the by.
