I look at this new "entry level marker" and go .

First we have a boatload of entry level markers (both electronic and mechanical) from a great many distributors.

Spyders (and clones), tippmans (many types), axes, mini's, ect.

Add to it the used market (like the B/S/T here) that a new player (with minimal research) can find something.

In short with what is available (new and used) there is more than enough for a new player to get a decent setup for a reasonable amount of cash.

The LAST THING we need is another "entry level" marker that is (I may be wrong but I bet not) cheap. Not only in cost but in quality, serviceablility and (IMO what makes a good one last) ability to be upgraded/customized by the owner.

The biggest thing that turns off a new player is one who spends (or their parents) spends some hard earned money on a paintball gun that is cheap and crappy. They get on the field and find out how cheap it really is.

Alot after that may not come back.

What we really need is NEW PLAYERS not new starter equipment.

The problem is paintball has been concentrating on equipment arms race where BPS is the goal instead of being welcoming to new players.

Now note I am not against new wiz-bang equipment.

When I started in 1986 there were there always those who could afford the latest (usually expensive) equipment/guns.

But what alot of the "older players" (and I still follow) at the time did was not make fun of those with "entry level/starter" guns/equipment but encourage them to learn how to use what they had and develop skills.

We let them borrow our gear and help them learn skills first, then help them purchase more advance equipment.
But the biggest thing we taught or showed them was to build up equipment OVER TIME.

The problem is we all need to stop worrying about a new "entry level gun" and concentrate on new "entry level players".

Ok rant over

If that's the Overdrive DB included, then cool.
If that's the Overdrive regular, then boo.
DB had sound activation, which made it passable as a loader.

While i did not read all of scrounger's post (sorry, i just can't focus long enough), i do agree with the parts i did catch. We don't need more entry levels at THIS quality point. I'd rather recommend new players rent instead.

I typically carry one extra tube and give them 1 ball from it.

I'm an *** like that.

Seriously? If so, that's pretty cool.

Honestly, with all this hate for the e icon going on, it kinda makes me want to buy one and try it. See how the quality is as opposed to speculation.

Good for a loaner, if nothing else.

Off-topic: everyone has seemed to glance over the .50 cal JT pistol. Only bring it up because it looks like it should be part of a set w/ the E-Icon. Mock scope holds 15 balls, mag holds 7... can't figure out where the mag goes.

It's built into the handle - no separate mag.

I actually want the loader that comes with this. It would be great paired with my feedgate for loading 10-round tubes.
