I hated the sideline coaching for years. It's distracting, takes away skill, takes chances/risk taking out, I feel it's cheating, and I can go on. I am glad they are taking it out.

Next they need to bring back semi auto only and no ramping crap.

Yes I was at the last 10 man World Cup in Florida back in 02. When I said 10 I was referring to both teams combined.

Yes but still it's nice to hear that it hasn't changed. That was a huge change that I was happy to hear about. I should've been more clear with that.

I hope europe follows soon, I stopped playing speedball when coaching came, now I have to rethink my retirement.

I liked speedball but hated that the one who has best puppetmaster wins.

as much as I'd like this, It's too easy to cheat playing like that. ramping gives everyone a level non-cheating playing field when it comes to balls per second.

The skill was taken out of the game when they moved to a Speedball format.

Come one man, it takes some skill to play on a speedball field. It makes the decisions a player has to make a lot quicker than when spread out in the woods.

I do however think it's funny how PSP trying to return to the feel of older tournaments. Less paint in the air, no coaching, bigger moves/risks by players, etc. I gotta say I like it cause it's a step in the right direction.

Zing!

I like the changes, the lower BPS and outlawing coaching (situational awareness FTW!), but there really are minor tweaks around the edges. If they want to make it really about player skill, and really want to make it watchable and appealing to people who don't play paintball, they need to do way more.

You guys do realize this will only impact two of the fields at a PSP event? This rule change doesn't impact divisional fields where I honestly feel people need to learn more skill instead of depending on coaching. I'm hoping the end result will be the no coaching rule on all fields, but unless they block spectators or add bleachers, I find it almost impossible to believe they will be able to ban coaching from the non-pro fields.

couldn't agree more. Sideline coaching negates individual player skill and same with ramping. Far as I'm concerned ramping is a crutch which should be eliminated across the board. Semi auto or pump is where the truly skilled players are found.
