August PaintballX3 magazine -list of 175 people who shaped paintball

Available here for free:

PaintballX3 Magazine August 2014 Issue

I recognize many of the names and many of which I don't think qualify for this list, but 175 people is a lot of names to fill. I was thinking of starting a thread to discuss who was on your personal "Mount Rushmore" of paintball but this takes that about 100 steps further. My personal list would be limited to the heavy hitters as I don't think many of the people on this list really "shaped paintball" but it's a good read either way.

One glaring omission is the absence of our fearless leader.

I agree, there are a lot of people in there that are just notable players, but didn't do much to shape paintball. I feel having this sort of focus made it so that they missed a ton of important information about key people. I haven't read all of it, but there's a ton of things that people on that list did to shape the sport that aren't even hinted at.

I enjoyed the fact that the EMR bunkhouses were mentioned

Never been to EMR but I thought it was "What happens at the bunk house, stays in the bunk house".

That's pretty aweseome. Thanks for the link! I'm glad they did that. It's also to be able to match faces to the names of these paintball legends.

It's a nice article, but I have trouble taking their little history project seriously when the Gardners' write-up doesn't even mention the word "lawsuit." I'm not saying the publication should eviscerate them, but the lawsuits had a huge impact on the game and need to be dealt with.

...but then those eNMEy adverti$ement$ would go away.

And that's why magazines can't be objective sources.

And also why we can't have nice things.

Hello all! First of all, thanks for reading the magazine. We appreciate it, even if you disagree with our take

A few things: The profiles are short for a few reasons. First, the article took 30 pages even with just one paragraph per person. We never really intended for this to be the be all, end all on each person. We are saving that for our paintball history site we are currently developing. Second - we are going to do a feature on every name in this issue in the future, so there will be much more on each person in those issues.

Last thing, we're ALWAYS open to suggestions for more names, less names, corrections, etc. As we said in the article, this is an ongoing project that will change constantly.

Thanks again for reading!!

You could probably cut the list in half and still have more than the key people. A lot of these folks are awesome, but I wouldn't think they make the cut for those that shaped paintball or were influential in getting to game to where it is today.

That being said, you can't please everyone so just do what you think it right and keep it up!

I know it's in alphabetic order but I find it ironic that Bud Orr and Glenn Palmer are side by side in this.
