Ontario, Canada Operation Craig paintball is being bought from the property owner, the people who ran the field were only leasing the property and were told they would have first chance to buy it, it didn't work out that way and now it is being turned into an automotive recycling plant, this group is dedicated to doing anything we can do( in the law) to stop the closing of the field. The one way we are thinking will help us get the field back is zoning permits needed to make an automotive recycling plant and we want to convince the council members of Picton to deny them the permits, (A) this will be bad for the environment and is likely to cause many environmental issues as there is a fresh water stream that runs under the property (B) the paintball field Operation Craig is well known through out Ontario and only continuing to grow and bring in more tourism opportunity's to Picton. The GLCF has had a wonderful time, organizing and playing events at what we believe is arguably the best field in Canada for milsim play. Please join our facebook group Save Operation Craig. Ummm...Vapor. This is "The County". Things are a little different up that way. County people consider vistors part of the "harvest". If an auto recycling facility shows better return to the towns' economy than a very enthusiastic group of paintballers......well, I'm sorry, it's not gonna happen. Now, here's a thought. If Wasaga can draw 1500 players, those numbers would definitely impress the local council, especially if it was in May, before tourist season, or September, after the "harvest" goes back to Toronto. The problem I see is that the folks running the place are hard pressed to keep 250 players playing "fair", as evidenced by the big game last month. They're geat folks, but just don't have the manpower. On a brighter note, the "County" is full of abandoned Armed Forces facilities, albeit none as crazy fun as Craig. I'm sure they'll just relocate to Point Petrie or Wapoos Island. Just my 2 cents. |

Sad news to hear about what was supposed to be the Canadian version of Ft. Blanding. I really wish you guys all the best luck and I hope things work out for the best.

If any of us was the owner of the property, how would each of us feel if someone came along and told us what we could and couldn't do with it? While I sympathize with the desire to keep a good field going, wouldn't it be more helpful to THANK the owner for the time he let everyone use the property for a paintball field, and see if he has friends and neighbors who own similar property which would also be suitable for similar use?

as I see it the owner of the property was offered an amount that the present party leasing could not come up with?....or just cut out completely....most likely the county is behind it deeper than you think....tax money and jobs.....this may have been in the works for many, many months if not years..... I would use the county government to your favor and seek help to relocate close by or as one of the posters mentioned....another likewise property..... |

Well, from what I've heard, it's all over. The field is officially closed. The current tennants were out on the 30th. Kinda sad, really but I'm just glad to say I played it, even if it was only once. I hope they can find somewhere else in the area that's almost as interesting to use as a field. That's what I'd do anyway.

Any idea if they are going to have a big blow-out game before they close? The field looks nice enough that it might be worth the drive to play there.

They actually had a farewell game planned for Dec. 1 but it was cancelled because they had to be out by Nov. 30th.
