You will also need a bench vise with the magnetic rubber pads
to protect the regulator (when you are removing the reg from the tank).

Craftsman Multi-Grip Vise Pads - Model 51866 at Sears.com

Using the local welding supply to do tank re-hydro's I have found if I dont remove the reg I get it back in pieces

Yeah thats exactly what they have.

I might go pick this stuff up because im constantly traveling to and from NH and IA and not having to pay 20$ to ship it is almost a days worth of paint saved.

I got all of it at the local Sears.
Strap wrench, bench vise, and the rubber guards were like 60 bux.
I think thats what it was. Only place I was able to find the magnetic rubber bench vise guards, even looking online, was the local Sears.

$32.99 and what seems like a liability to any field really, Shocktech should limit these to proshops , not to players.

As a small shop owner myself, I would be a bit afraid seeing someone use this item, or better yet, seeing what happens when they attempt to put the reg back on properly. What it boils down to in my opinion is knowledge or the lack of it with some players. Using oil and super glue instead of locktite, and the list goes on.

Sometime natural selection needs a push to get rolling again.

Nice to know somebody else sees the potential for danger we have here by influencing more people to take thier tanks apart...

I certainly can understand the usefulness of this item especially to tournament players and those of us that have to fly to the next big game. I just believe more effort must be put into educating players...

A useful tool, noneless as stated above, the potential abuse by less then adequate education comes to mind. I don't think the abuse would be as high though, since it's mainly catered to those who go on flights to tourneys.

They should know their equipment fairly well, since hey, do they really want to lose a player during the game do to their tank coming loose and permanently taking out one or more of their players? Probably not.

However, I am tempted for one, I want to get rid of all the PE regs on my tanks and replace them without paying a pro-shop $25 to do just one change when I could technically do it with this for $32.

Didn't rainman make a batch of something similar to this a while back?

Well, I will step up and count myself as a "retard" when it comes to HPA regulator removal...

That said, I think it is a bad idea too to give people the means to take their regulator off their tank. There are just too many unqualified and/or immature folks that could get someone badly hurt.

I would think the dead woman from the flying CO2 tank a year or so back would still be fresh in the minds of companies.

I see this being a cool product overall, but it's going to be have a limited market. It's not really that difficult to remove a reg if you have some basic tooling and common sense. I swap regs out all the time for people. A heat gun, vise, a pair of Channel Locks and a 10" wrench and the regulator easily comes off.

A some tanks have wrench flats anyhow. No need for any sort of special tool then.
