One more change they should have made is the the exposed internals. They have all that space under the rail now, they could have added either a MP5 style charging handle (I think thats what it is called) or maybe an M16 style one. They probably wanted to keep that aftermarket upgrade option open.

They essentially re-designed the M-98 according to what they had heard on the Tippmann Forums. They went to the moderators and asked them to take stock of what problems needed to be addressed. The 98 platinum is what they came up with. No more losing the sight spring. No more stripped valve threads and valve screws, easy to install and remove the flatline, and the ability to make it mil-sim without having to perform a bunch of custom modifications. It's really interesting to see a paintball company listen to it's customer base rather than just trying to second guess them.

Looks to be one more step up on the ladder...hard to improve on this platform and they did what the players asked for. I hope they improved the sear and rear bolt/hammer...

I gotta tell yah. I am not a scenario or mil sim lover - but that is cool.

Why? The flatline looks a lot like an MP5 now. But you can change it look like a AK or a AR 15.

That is cool - to me.

I've worked part time at a field for a couple years now and I can tell you that the changes they've made to the sight spring, powertube, ASA screws and split receiver will make these much better rental guns.

I hope so too, otherwise it will still be useless as a rental.

If I saw the video correctly, the picitanny rail system bolts on to the top of the marker. I could be wrong though. Remove it, and replace the end-cap with a standard ACT end-cap and you're good to go.

They changed up the sear and hammer in the most recent revision prior to the platinum series.
