Drop Zone paintball limits rec play to Gravity Fed hoppers only!

From PBN:

Drop Zone limits recreational paintball play to gravity fed hoppers only - PbNation

They're not even allowing Revvies.....I'm all for getting the ROF down but they should at least let players go back to 1999 technology first and see if it helps.

I like how half those PBN shmucks didn't even read the whole release before ripping into it.

I can see Drop Zone's logic behind this and the idea that they want their field to be more friendly to newer players. By making it friendlier it will attract more newbies who will eventually become better and end up spending the money on faster guns and paint anyways at a later date. I can't see DZ losing any money on this so long as the amount of paint new players buy in smaller amounts can balance the loss of individuals shooting obscene amounts of paint.

Bold move, and I hope it pays off. Kudos to DZ for trying to make their field more beginner friendly. That's what rec-ball is all about isn't it?

I love how those kids are saying ti will keep people away. I think that is the idea. Keep the people you dont want away by making conditions unfavorable to them.

I like the thinking- To slow the game down, but only allowing non-agitated hoppers is just going to agrivate people.

All gravity-fed hoppers, agitated or not, have the same max speed. The difference is that non-agitated hoppers can jam, leading to messy chops, and frustration while you "Shake and fire".

A far better solution would be to limit the paint-per-game to whats in the hopper (or 200nds. Whichever is less). Then people would not hose the newbs...or they risk running out of paint.

Doesn't say anything about spring feeds or QLoader's wonder what would happen if you showed up with one?

I like the Idea, I think it's a big bold step. Should be interesting to se how it works.

We often play "hopperball" were I play.

At least with Q-Loaders, you can remove the Q-Loader to play at that field. A5, and ATS owners don't really have a way to go to pure gravity feed at all.

I think it's great that they are trying something to limit the ROF on rec fields. As HP said though, having an electonic hopper isn't completely about rate of fire. I use a revy is to avoid jams and breaks , not so that I can crank out 13 balls per second.

I have always liked the idea of limiting paint per game. At our field, if you run out of paint, you're allowed to just wander off the field and get more and come back in the game as many times as you want. At least a few players go through a couple of cases a day.

what about QLoaders?
if i have a QLoaded Typhoon I'm going to be shooting a max of 5 to 9 bps, i don't see how not letting me play because of the force feed would be effective in this case.
I have even seen QLoaded pump guns, so i don't think a pumper is going to be over shooting.
I'm sure that things will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
With the final word being with the Ref and the Field Management, which will be fair enough.

I love the guy half way down that says "I'm never playing semi without at least a Revvy."

I guess I was just having a hallucination about those hundreds of thousands of paintballs I shot out of my semis back in the day out of my VL200....

And in a day when so many guns have eyes - chopping should be even less of a problem than it was.

I'm a little insulted that people think a rule like this will "...lets those freaks that love pumps play too and get the most from their overdeveloped ninjaskills" my ninjaskills are just fine against whatever marker the opposition chooses to use.

They dont mind people shooting a ton of paint. They just dont want them to do it quickly. Revvies can power electronic guns just fine. This way people can carry as much paint as they want, they simply can not shoot fast. You get a good 3 or 5 shots without needing to shake it up.

Talledega nights paintball they should be called. Shake and Bake! I love the idea.

There can be no exceptions. If they allow a Qloader for you then they have to allow it for everyone. Gravity fed or nothing. Simple, concise and no room for bargaining.
