They do have some very good products, like the ones you mentioned, and that would be fine for a small manufacturing company. But a giant company like they are demands a huge volume of sales and large profits to justify.
For every 5 VLocity's they sell to guys like you and me, they would rather (and can) sell 25 JT Tac-5 Recon's to mom and dad's shopping for a birthday gift for little sugah-woogums.
If they were to completely abandon the big box store approach and just sell in paintball stores, then the paintball division would either fold or be sold off because it's revenue stream just wouldn't justify the hassle.
