Hah. Reminds me of a high-school incident involving me. I was talking to a buddy about a Spyder e-frame I modified. Just before class began, mind you.

Me: Hey, man. Check this out. I filed down the trigger, repainted the frame and installed a T-Board. *pulls frame out of backpack*
Him: Sweet. How fast does it shoot?
Me: *twiddles some modes and starts clicking pancake noid as fast as I can*
Teacher: What's that?
Me: My paintball gun frame.
Teacher: Put it up. That's annoying.
Me: K.

This was a few years back, when I thought my Imagine was freaking awesome. I've since grown up. Point being, back then, I never would have even THOUGHT I'd get in trouble for bringing a part of a paintball gun to school. Now look what the world's coming too...

ok ok, the cops got called, they did their full reaction thing, and it turned out to be a paintball gun part. what dissapoints me is that the kid is being CHARGED for possesing a paintball gun part at school. Its one thing to cause a rucus and get suspended for that... its the mere possesion of it that he is getting slammed for.

I don't know...if I saw the bottom of that grip sticking out of somebody's bag and didn't have any experience with paintball, I would probably assume there's a gun attached to that grip. Better safe than sorry. I hope the kid doesn't get in too much trouble (like maybe when the media attention cools, they drop the whole thing), but you know how society is about locking the barn door after the horse is gone. They always want to, and with extra chains and armed guards.

Principal Michael Bregy said a female student came to the main office shortly after classes were dismissed at 11 a.m. to report a student who might have had a gun.
Seems like it was a matter of her convenience...

Quote:
Kuzynowski said the student who reported the incident had seen the part of the paintball gun earlier in the day but did not report it until later.
... Or she just got rejected by the guy.

Lots of holes in this story that I'd like to have filled. But the comments to the story are pretty entertaining.

heh.

just three years ago, in machine shop, the teacher let myself and another guy make friggen swords.

He also let me work on my paintball marker, he was more concerned that i was making everything to tollerance than what I was actually making... It's so good to be one of the smart, sane students.

Ok let's all look at this for real.:

Idiots shooting other students at school.
Lots of shootings in the past yrs.
Oh look gun grip, let's report it.

Moral:
Leave the paintball stuff at home it's just that simple. However there is always an idiot out there that will challenge the system. Regardless what anyone says, it can still be used as a weapon. Although they are considered farm and forrestry equipment. Lets face it, todays youth isn't very smart. Everyone has to act tough and like some want to be thug. This is a good reason why "Paddeling should have never been taken out of school". In my day this would have been handled just that way. But back in my day it was nothing to see .22 and shot guns in the windows of pickups.
Later,
Blackrain

Well...I think that what he did...TAKING IT OUT IN SCHOOL was stupid on his part.

I clear the items with my professor when I want to bring them in. My college professor for introduction to speech let me bring in all of my toys...

I brought in several I think 6 total and she was cool with it.

Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Around here a guy wearing a camo jacket and carrying a tripod to a art class in his school got the SWAT team called in and the building locked down for three hours.
