This is how IDIOTS get shot by police. Taking airsoft and paintguns to school. Then the parents and friends start crying that it was only a toy gun and the police didn't have to shoot him. In reality it's more like "Look everyone I'm a dumbass that can't follow rules. I'm from the hood of whispering willows. I'm so stupid I bought a toy gun to school that looks real." Someone deserves to be shot that is that stupid.
Later,

Things I brought to high school circa mid 1980s

Civil War sword (History class)
Flail (History class)
.22 Rifle (leather working project - sling)
12 Gauge Shotgun (leather working project - sling)
4+ inch hunting knife (for a shop leather working project in MIDDLE school)
Recurve bow with practice arrows (gym class - believe it or not!)

Most of them were in plain view and even carried (HORRORS!!) on school grounds. Nobody panicked, no police were called, I wasn't suspended, no mass murdering rampage ensued. I dunno WTF has become of our society, it's really scary how pacifistic and horrified we have become at even so much as an image of a firearm. Personally, I believe it's the gov'ts surreptitious way of paving the path through our youth towards a society that is so terrified of firearms that it will have no problem at all with the concept of total disarmament.

But that's just me I guess...

-Cheers!

I think that the police did what they should have done in the responce to a possible gun.

IN TODAYS WORLD esspecially, the kid is an idiot for having brought it without prior authorization from the school.

Being charged with disorderly conduct for having a gripframe on school property, yeah thats going way overboard. A suspension, detention, some kind of punishment by the school is NEEDED for the trouble that was caused. The community as a whole will expect it, but as far as legal repurcussions, I think thats making a mountain out of a moll hill

The police are idiots for charging the kid, the only hope he has is to get a decent judge that's not part of the anti-gun lobby.

Wow, the police responded to the situation well, but to charge the kid. Ugh. That reminds me 3 years ago in high school a friend of mine didn't clean out his back pack entirely after a weekend of play and had left a barrel in there, well needless to say when he was putting it into his locker so it wouldn't become a problem, someone saw it a pressumed it to be a pipe bomb. Well my friend almost got expelled even though I think he did the right thing (considering not double checking the bag before leaving for school).

It wasnt even a whole PB gun. It could have been a barrel, trigger frame, lead pipe?

We dont need gun control we need gun education.

The policed definitely did the right thing..they probably got a phone call from a crying secretary saying "there is a boy that probably has a gun here!!!!" proceeded and preceded by some whimpers.

The ROTC student getting harassed for taking a drill gun across campus makes me laugh, because it makes me think of other things I've seen ROTC students roll across a college campus.

Locally, the ROTC guys have a cannon they fire off at football games when the home team scores a touchdown. The stadium has been under some major upgrade contruction for the better part of a year, and the ROTC quarters were in a part of the stadium that is under upgrades.

I happened to be on campus during the afternoon last fall, and much to my amusement, the ROTC crew was rolling their cannon across the quad, heading to the stadium.

This is part of the reason I quit taking classes to become a school teacher. It's just the kids you have to deal with. Them and their pacifistic parents. Kids today want to copy cat what ever they see.
Just look on you tube. IDOTS shooting others in the head with paint guns and multi shooting each others bare skin for I guess the right to be a man. This really makes me want to play paintball.
Also the dumbasses that are coming to school with guns and shooting others that picked on them. Here's some advice. Keep the paintball stuff at home and you won't get charged.
Somemore advice. If you are one of those weak individuals who are always getting picked on do this:
Ask your parents to send you to boxing class or the martial arts. Learn to defend yourself. Sure you might have to give up things like Ipods, video games, baggy pants etc. But hey reach down grab a set and take control. It's not a hard issue. I used to get picked on in school, but my Dad was a pro boxer at one time. I did get my revenge. I learned how to hit hard in football, soften them up. After practice they would try and hurt me for hitting them to hard. Let's just say I got everyone one at a time. They ended up pieces of crap in society as their lives went on, but to this day I get respect.

So why do you need guns or why take anything that resembles a gun to school? Just leave the stuff at home. Remember that it can hurt you in the future when you need a security clearance or a good job.
Later,
Blackrain

I brought all my paintball gear and put it in my friend's locker. he Knew what it was but didn't tell anybody. Anyone who knows me can tell that I'm Responsible with my ''Toys''.
Never got caught at school for putting paintgun, 12grams 10rd tubes and paint in my friend's locker.

Society is overrated,

TAKE THAT SOCIETY
