BR.. standing up for yourself in school these days is just a ticket to get carted away by the cops...

They teach teachers to teach, but for some reason, cant teach some of them the sense to make a sound judgment on what happened.

so no bringing anything like a hair drier, drill, timing light, caulking gun, paint sprayer or anything like that even remotely like this near a school or you will be shot on sight by the little tattle tails that are trying to be good little informant,
seems Orwell's 1984 was just a few years off.
thank you rampant paranoia!

small minds over reacting.

i wonder what would happen if something REALLY did go wrong?
call out the Reserves?
National Guard?
Call in an Air Strike?

Never know. SWAT has been storming schools for quite a few yrs now. The point here is that kids are pushing the lines of rules. It's just that simple. what is the point of bringing airsoft, paintball guns/markers to school? Is it just to say "See I can do it". Felonies affect futures here in America. Meaning future jobs. 2 days after my Son and his friends Graduated, 4 lives were runied. Two days after becoming graduates, my Son's friends decided to trash school property. They got time in jail, became felons, lost full ride scholorships. All before they were 19 yrs old. The best they could ever get around here is maybe fast food. Could they work in the local shipyard as Gov employee or contractor? Nope, cause they are now felons. Felons for the rest of their lives. Their excuse "We just hated the school". This same action can be bought on just buy bringing a paintball or airsoft gun to school. They youth of today are idots so to speak. They do everything they are told not to. Parents can't give a good old fashion *** whiping, cause the little punk will call CPS and turn his own parents in for abuse because of his/her dumbass mistake they he/she got punished for. Can't get in a fight and defend yourself, cause now we call it anger managment lol.
So is you are still a minor, think before you do something stupid like take a paintball gun or anything that resembles a gun to school. Common scense tells you not to, but you will give into peer pressure. If you are that stupid then you deserve what you get. Be it suspension,or arrested or even both. Just my two cents but what do I know.
Later,
Blackrain

Nobody cared when we brought all sorts of nasty goodies in high school. I always cared a pocket knife or a box cutter because I went straight to work after school.

Mind you the school system up here doesn't care that much for the most part. As long as you didn't download anything onto the computers they didn't really care about anything. Guns, knives, tools, paintball stuff, heck even porn they didn't really care about.

I guess downloading Doom onto the old 486's was more evil than shooting people.... Heck I think they still use those 486 computers

Blackrain, what does this incident have to do with kids getting picked on? The kid made a mistake, but there's no indication he was flailing a grip frame around to be badass or try to scare other kids. I'm not trying to defend bad decisions here, but at the same time, kids are kids. They make stupid mistakes, obviously this one blew up but it could have easily been not an issue at all. It was just "luck", or lack thereof, that it did turn into something. I don't think arresting people and trying to implant a "Haha, I blemished your record!" mentality is going to magically correct kids' attitudes through fear; on the contrary its going to make them more rebellious.

Also I think its a little harder than "Oh, kids who are bullied just need to fight". The school systems currently villainize kids that do that.

Over here things seem to be pretty mellow. I had just finished the kp2 stock in the woodshop and had been talking to the metal shop teacher (he had bought his son a paintball marker for christmas so we were talking about it) After me mentioning something about wanted to solder the body he said bring it in and from there he was quite impressed and I threw him a mask out of my gear bag and put one on myself (since we were the only two in the shop) and let him try it. After that when the 12 gram was spent he proceeded to walk down the hallway and show another teacher the job I had done on the stock. No police were called and I was not even asked about where/how I got it.

Keep in mind I get suspended for standing up for myself and pumbling someone (3 days) and then this year I have gotten another 3 days for swearing. It seems pretty corrupt to me, but no where does it mention on the school rules/conduct book/the suspension forms etc anything about knifes, guns, lighters, drugs etc.

Im not trying to rub it in that I have had paintball markers at school but from everyone Ive talked to to the staff no one has a problem with me bringing my gear bag when I am going out to play afterwards.

Might be alittle off topic but what we are "taught" here is to rat out everything that happens. Someone bugs you go to the guidance office etc. Being in highschool there are alot of really plain old stupid kids, and standing up for yourself has to be done to some degree. Im not saying go around and punch everyone and get into fights but everyday I see countless numbers of kids picked on and etc and they dont do anything about it. If someone came up and hit me or something I would definatly fight back, if someone said something to me I didnt like or to a friend I would atleast say something back to confront that mind you my langauge might be vulgar but it wouldnt be on the same degree as insulting. Society sucks in schools these days and no one does anything about it.
