I am also waiting for my refurb promaster to show up... I'll let MCB know if it works out of the box.

Blown noid, pinched wires or creeping lpr would be my guess. All easy fixes if you have the parts but major pain if you just bought a new gun. With it messed up out of the box why not just send it back for a replacement if you can.

I haven't checked the links for the Promasters but come on its 99 dollars for a freakin electro pneumatic non-sear tripping gun. What do you want from these people.

The following comment is not direct towards you Crash.

I stand behind my statement that Paintballers are still the cheapest people on the planet. I can't think of a cheaper (or dumber...'reference to all the people that are going from their 07 ego to 08 ego just because its 1 year newer and a net 600 dollars more') group of people.

Hopefully, "refurbished" means that it will be working when it arrives. I'm planning on taking the entire thing apart at some point anyway.

Unfortunately, the BL Torpedo reg that I received from I&I "refurbished" needed some work. It had DOW33 or something in it, and it was not sealing. I had to clean all the grease out and relube with marvel mystery air tool oil. Fortunately, it is incredibly easy to take the BL Torpedo apart an has almost the same design as a stabilizer.

Just remember oil will make a promaster leak! grease only for the ram, and both regs.

and yeah $99 for a promaster is a good price.

If I had to guess, overhead on their physical shops are killing the bottom line for the company? The I&I in Carson was where I went for most of my store needs when I was in LA, until I got sick of dealing with the kiddies they had working there alone on the weekends when Jerry (The Cocker Doctor) & Co weren't around. I wasn't super impressed with their inventory, although they had the occassional busted gun that someone would bring in and never go back for on sale cheapish.

Once I discovered PBWarehouse was right up the road I started going there instead. While they had some kiddies working sometimes too, at least they were competent and didn't do stuff like blowing the burst disks on all my tanks, f'ing up my fill nipples, or letting 8 year olds roam around the store with assembled markers (including tanks) with no barrel blocking devices on.

Kiddies, why I've completely stopped going to any actual socal retail shop. I once went out to a shop in in San Gabriel to get a a stab I needed for that weekend and ended up nearly slugging the kiddie over the counter and the owner who wanted to charge me for running my gun over the chrony when I supplied the air and paint. Now with fuel prices... I just purchase stuff zephyrpaintball.com or paintballgateway.com and usually it gets here next day. It just isn't worth it.

I remember making the pilgrimage to I&I Sports down in San Jose when I lived in the Bay Area... I bought an expansion chamber and a Virus hopper for my mega-upped pro/carbine.

Those were major purchases back then. How far I've come, buying a ProMaster on a whim.

PS While were talking about ProMasters, what purpose does the main spring in the ram serve? I thought this was an air-ram marker, like an intimidator/ego/fusion/etc.

No offense taken! I was just listing likely reasons why they would have to be refurbished. That one of those problems existed and they were returned because of that. As for your second comment I agree since the field I work at tends to have quiet a few of those people running around!
